Looking at a C6 Vette

I may be trading in my 12 SS for a Grand Sport. This is probably the wrong area to post this but I was wondering if anyone here that works at a dealership that can run the vin and tell me if the car has had warranty work, recalls, etc. The carfax came back clean but I'm not sure how reliable those are. Thanks for any help. If this post needs to be moved or deleted please do so.

I can't help you with the background check on the car (Carfax is a start, but checking public records can help some), and you can take the VIN to your Chevy dealer service dept and see if it has any outstanding recalls, I think.

I own 4 Corvette's right now (as well as many other fun rides) and I can tell you that the Grand Sport is a fantastic car! I did have to mod the exhaust first thing, and I highly recommend you go with the Billy Boat setup for it!

Enjoy. Here's some eye candy of mine.

Billy Boat exhaust. You can see mine installed with the black ceramic tips. It is deep, loud, growly... with zero drone. When you step on it or rev though, it's terror. I spent a lot of time evaluating exhausts for the C6 and there is no better, IMHO. It's almost as sweet sounding as my 1980 Vette, which is headers straight to side pipes.

Thanks! I'll look at that. Is your's auto or manual? That's the part I'm struggling with. I really enjoy driving manuals and the one I'm considering is an auto.

In that case, I would hold out for the manual. When it comes to cars like this, get it because you want it, not just because it's there.

Also, when you feel you are just about ready to pull the trigger, take it to a dealership and pay for a PPI. They can find just about any skeletons in the car's closet.

A very successful guitar player named Austin. That's my guess.

Don't get me started.

Sweet car OP. Get it. I was looking at GS' as well, but found an awesome 1LE instead.

My Grand Sport is auto with paddle shift. Why limit yourself to manual when you can have the best of both worlds? At least that's how I see it.

drew peacock - Just hard working, self employed. Downside is I'm on duty 24/7 and my boss is mean and I won't give me any vacation or days off.

It helps to not "drive it like you stole it" also. Zero tickets means my insurance on all vehicles total is probably less than some folks with just one car. (also factor in limited use miles and multi car discounts)

my life too brother.. Not always sure it's worth it until I look in my garages.

Love the Grand Sport. To me, it's the 1LE of the C6 generation.

LOL, tell me about it. Had rack and pinion and wheel bearing and brakes done on my wife's Silverado yesterday ($$$) and addressing some issues (think it's fixed!) with my little Audi. Just when I'm about to curse cars in general, I go out into the garage and my eyes melt and I know it's all worth it in the long term.

I just wish there were more hours in a day though!

Glad you enjoy your rides, but the inability to rev match on the down shifts is my only complaint with automatics. When playing on a good road, that ability is pretty important. And with the current day automatics (like in the C7), it is not even an issue.
