Heated and ventilated seats?

■ Seats, heated driver and front passenger

I get the heated seats part....the current 5th Gens have that.

Ventilated? Does that mean they are not cooled but just vented?

Air cooled seats are awesome...wish the 5th Gen had them. I guess vented is better than noting....

Maybe GM did this to save weight?

Ventilated seat = cooled seat
Corvette calls it ventilated. Cadillac calls it ventilated. GMC calls it ventilated.....
So don't worry. We'll get cooled seat.

When I read ventilated seats... I thought they had vents in the seat near the neck area... A friends 4 series has it.... So I guess I was wrong in that sense...

Oh those things are cool, esp. on convertibles.... My brother's SL had it. I think Merc. was the first company to start that, and he (my brother) called it 'Air Scarf'. I thought that was Merc.'s official term.

Ventilated seats typically use 4-5 small fans in the seat cushion and backrest. The fans draw air from inside the cabin and into the seat. The air then goes through ducts and distributes the "cool" cabin air evenly throughout the seat via perforations in the fabric.

Just a few years ago this was considered a high end option but now its starting to become common even on entry level cars - nice for hot climates

Yep the Mustang and Challenger/Charger have them now. Very nice to have in the South.

And in New England!

Love 'em. My M37x has heated / cooled seats and a heated steering wheel. I don't use it, but in the winter the wife absolutely loves it.

There is a difference between ventilated seats (used by GM) and seats that incorporate the car's A/C for cooling the seats.
The ventilated seats in my car do a super job without the complication of using the A/C to cool the seats.

Best regards,

Elie

Dumb option I never once said to myself boy it's hot I wish I had cool air blowing up my ass. I would rather that be an option save the money for something I need.

That's why they have the 1SS so if you don't want them you don't have to get them.

I agree. No matter how hot or cold it is outside when you first get in the car, eventually the interior temperature will level out to whatever setting you have your HVAC at.

Never burned your ass on hot leather? Or simply have sweaty pants because the sun is beating down you but vents aren't enough. First world problems for sure, but not dumb....just more of a gimmick.

When it's full humidity even with my AC on full blast my back is warm and sweaty against the leather seats. So can't tell me ventilated seats aren't needed.
