Shopping street tires that may hit the drag strip a couple times as well.

Pretty much narrowed the Rears down to Mickey Thompson.




Any suggestions for the fronts. Looking at these, but wanted to ask before pulling the trigger.

Going with stock sizes for these.

As stiff as those rear (and front) springs are, weight transfer onto the rear DR's is not going to be great. You should be able to a 345 in the rear like the NT05R. Can't guarantee it, but, a 345/30/19 Hoosier R7 fits with no rubbing.

Coming from 35 years of drag racing and years (and years) with 8 and 9 second cars on drag radials, the larger diameter (19 & 20) Mickey Thompsons have a reputation of some nasty road manners (resonance, imbalance). Had no issues with 275 - 315 in 15" diameters. Check out some of the Vette forums, etc.

If you were able to put a 15" rim (which you can't with stock brakes, etc. of course), I'd say M/T all day long for a drag tire. The 345/30/19 Nitto looks just slightly wider on paper, but, probably isn't by any or much. Says it is about 1/2" taller.

Thanks for the info and I was a bit worried about M/T since the 18" pair I got for my last Z definitely had crazy road manners. The Nitto would be almost an inch wider than 325's and I'm not sure I want to chance that.

I'm keeping the stock set for the track and have a second set of OE wheels on the way for street driving, but when I found the exact size in M/T I figured I could kill two birds there. You're right on the suspension and I should probably just scrap the idea of hitting the drag strip with this car as it will no doubt be a bit frustrating on launch.


Maybe I'll just pick up a set of these for the street.

Even the specs show only around 1/2" wider. Discount Tire and others will order one in for you to verify measurements. Lots of variation brand-to-brand in sizes.

But would them on the wheel or car? Guess I could ask first, but they normally won't go outside what their book calls for.

The tire size calculator says .8 inch difference. That would only be .4 on the inside but then the diameter is slightly taller. Might actually be a perfect fit.

I have had NTB and Discount both mount tires to try for size if they can get them normally and not have to special order. I'd ask your local dealer.

Yeah, none of these are stocked in Houston. I would have to order. I think a treadwear of 240 on these Bridgestones would give decent traction on the street. I can still swap out to the Goodyears F3 for the drag strip since the fronts will be the 1st thing to wear out on the road track.

I wonder with the M6 bog and all if Toyo R888Rs wouldn't do about as good as the Nittos or MT DRs and be fine on the street. Sub 1.7 60's are extremely rare even with a drag pack on the A10.

Or maybe you have an inside line on the bog

No, I gave up on the bog... my best 60' was 1.81 and if I get anything less than 2.0 with this manual I'll be happy and that will just be playing around when at the drag strip. Not going to even try to go both ways with this car. It's strictly road track.

That was my old ZL1 which was A10.

FYI - the NT05R 345's are on Amazon Prime. Worst case, order one, take measurements of an actual tire, send it back if it's not what you want. At most, you'd be out shipping one way and maybe not at all if the measurements don't match what the specs say.

Mike the 4S are what I put on mine and had no problems at the track or on the street. Dry or wet.
