Has there been a official weight of the ATS?

Sounds like no regrets on the Z/28 and no backing down to me
Did you expect regrets regarding the z/28? It accomplished exactly what it was designed to do. It was never meant to be the "everyman's" Camaro and it was priced based on content, not to get the most people into the car as possible.

I've had my z for all of five days now, and while I would not desire it as a daily driver, it is definitely the best performing Camaro I have ever driven.

I agree with everything you said. The Z/28 (as a halo car) gained a lot of cred for the Camaro line and Chevy. They never intended to sell them in mass. Many don't get that

Congrats on your new Z/28! Pics! Especially a group shot when you get the GT350 twins

When I followed the release of the S550, a lot of people seemed too be bummed out with the weight gain of the GT when it was released. When Cadillac was looking at reducing weight by the grams here and there, then the Camaro team does some things also, that is serious. This is an advantage of sharing a platform! I see butt hurt in the future, good job Team Camaro!

This is a big win if it's 100% fact and not some sales gimmick rigged number

You know it. It's been raining pretty much every day since I got it, so no pics yet. Now telling when the other two get here, but pics when they do.

As supersound said the 4 speed auto weren't nearly as fast. The 8 speed auto v6 might be able to hang with the ls1 a4...

For reference my 98 z28 m6 was a hard top stripper crank windows and all. It weighed 3297 with 1/3 tank of gas when I had it weighed at the place that dyno tuned it. (EPP-exotic performance plus which I think is out of business now) Only weight reduction I had done was removed spare and jack and obviously aftermarket exhaust usually saves weight.

So the curb weight (full tank and spare original everything) on a 98 m6 would be in the 3400lb range...and that was a no option car.

I was just surprised at how similar the power and weight looked compared to a 4th gen so I couldn't help but mention it...

Mod for mod you can forget it though....cammed ls1 and your gonna need fi with that v6. Even though it didn't make quite the power my 10 ss did...I swear my h/c 98 would have run neck and neck with it. It actually felt faster if I had to guess...
Not sure if it was the visibility or the weight of a combination of both, but my buddy's 02SS auto felt light years faster in acceleration than my 1LE. Could have been me being younger but that's a butt dyno that made a lasting impression on me.

I would love to add a sixth gen V6 as a daily driver. I hope hyper blue is available in a couple years or I'll be looking used. Love the color that much.

I had first hand experience against my friend who had a similar build as my 98 against my 2010 ss. His is a full option t-top 2000 z28 with 418 rwhp. Not quite as fast as my 98.
Butt dyno I thought for sure it was faster. The 5th gen being more refined, heavier and more planted numbs the sense of power and speed slightly. We raced a few times and I always won but it was fairly close. A very aggressive h/c ls1 build north of 450 rwhp is still the faster platform compared to the 5th gen at the strip in my opinion.

I'm thinking the 6th gen will finally definitively surpass the 4th gen in drag strip potential mod for mod etc.

I've driven my 98 Z28 and 1LE back to back. The 98 felt faster but it wasn't. I'm sure it just feels that way because of the weight.

That's going to beat the ecoboost no problem.

Are challenger 5.7 owners going to be scared of v6 camaros?

I would never get the v6 but it is going to have some serious performance. Mid 13s stock by a private owner wouldn't surprise me.
At those numbers a stock 5th gen should be worried.

Why would any 5th gen owner be worried? Do you think 5th gen owner expected the 6th gen to be slower than a 5th?

Why would you think its some kind of sales gimmick? The weights will be official and available for all to see over the coming weeks (few months?) Do you really think Al O is going to sit there and completely lie about weight, all in the name of selling a few to buyers that don't fact check first, and risk pissing off the rest of us????

Just accept it as fact.
