Pilot Sport 4 All Season

The weather is cooling off, and the PS4 A/S is now available in stock ZL1 sizes (285/30-20 and 305/30-20). We finally have an alternative to the Bridgestone for those of us who have a need for an A/S tire.

I know these haven't been available long, but has anyone tried them yet?

Is Bridgestone Potenza that bad? I just threw a set on the rears because I hate Goodyear and wanted a little more tread life. I'll try Michelin next but they are about $140 more per tire and not convinced it's worth it on the street, where "ultimate traction" tires are good for bragging rights but really means nothing

The RE980 A/S are not bad, but they aren't great either... I find they have a little more sidewall squirm than I would like, and though dry grip is adequate for any sane street driving, they're just adequate.

The PS4 A/S is supposed to be a 1.0g tire in the dry on the C8, so I'm hoping it will be a worthwhile investment over the 'Stones.

Huntington Beach isn't really a good measure of 'cold'...

It's not uncommon here in the mountain SW to have winter temps in the 20s to high teens overnight (and early mornings) and we generally have freezing nights from Nov-Mar, which means summer tires like the PS4 are a no-go. We don't drive the car when it snows, but the cold temps are enough to require a real A/S.

Big Bear would be a pretty good approximation of our climate.

I grew up in Orange, and can remember when there was nothing in Corona... LOL We used to go shooting and hunting there just a mile or so off 91!

I just got a set of PS4 all season for my 17 ZL1. I found the tires to be much smoother and better riding than the Goodyear’s. I live in south Louisiana where we get frequent rainstorm, the Goodyear’s were treacherous in the rain so I went with the all season tires. Good tires l highly recommend them.

Here's a good video of a race team guy discussing race tires popular at Nurburgring. The 4S seems to be his #1 choice overall.

Off Topic.... Damn man, You are following my parents, or they're following you. I was born in Orange, Grew up in Diamond Bar when the population was like 7,000 in the late 60's and early to mid 70's, when there was only hills to go out and catch snakes in. Parents now live in Prescott, was just there last year, nice place.

Even 20 years ago when we moved north. There's way to many people and high density developments now.

Not finding them in 305/30-20, they announced them but said not all sizes are in production yet. I have been running the PS4S and the RE980's in the winter and would toss the Bridgestone's aside in a second for them and will when available. I just put the stones back on and am reminded why I don't like them, traction is OK but they look thinner (sidewall), ride rough and flat spot like no other. For the driving I do those A/S's would probably be GTG year round I could have saved myself a lot of money on spare rims and tires.
