Unhappy 1st accident in 20yrs-had to be in an SS.

Pulling out of my underground parking garage, turned left....waited for an older lady and her dog to cross the parking lot. Once the coast was clear, I proceed to hit the gas and BOOM..stopped in my tracks.....on my right a Lincoln MKX backed up full steam ahead into the front passenger side. I didn't see him unfortunately b/c was watching the lady and her dog all the way across. 84yr old neighbor got out of the Lincoln and apologized. His car suffered minimal damage in comparison to mine.

SS was barely drive-able back into my space as the damage is rubbing hard against the tire. Car got towed on a flatbed to the body shop yesterday. Other guy's insurance assumed full liability for it and is paying for my rental car (Fusion hybrid). My accident streak has ended unfortunately. Oh well, sh!t happens. Luckily no one was injured. Shop that has it apparently does great work, so hopefully it looks and drives same again.

:-(... ah.. bummer. Glad nobody was hurt. Well you were hurt, just mentally not physically. I'd be crushed looking at my SS with damage.

Yeah I understand that. The last accident I had was back in November of 2016, the day before Thanksgiving. I had my 2016 2SS 6 months and was involved in a major front end accident that totaled up to over $18,000 of damage. The SS was repaired because it was basically a new car and only the side airbags deployed so it wasn’t a total. In March 2019 I used it as a trade in on a slightly used 2017 ZL1 and have no regrets to this day. Your SS can be repaired so no worries and no one was hurt in the accident!

That sucks.

I’d like to think I wouldn’t go ballistic, but I’m probably wrong.

The good news is that it appears from the picture that you "only" need a right fender and front clip. I guess the biggest issue will be matching the paint.

I actually wasn't that pissed. Figure what's the point and what is it going to accomplish? Nothing good. And even if I was upset, 5 minutes behind the wheel of my heavenly Ford Fusion would make it all fade away.......

Yes, hopefully their spectrophotometer is working well.

What a great attitude. Last year a dump truck wiped out my new to me FIFTY. He came into my lane on a 2 lane road and just cleaned house. He was very apologetic. I was shook up and pissed but he was a younger driver and likely his first "real" job and was more worried about me and the car. Like you said "shit happens". For me I got paid a gem for my FIFTY and went on to buy another identical car. LOL Happy you were not hurt and now is the time to add a front lip and side skirts lol

That's really unfortunate.

But what color was it? Is that black or grey?

Hey Staves, you're not alone if that makes you feel better, back in March I had my first accident ever with me behind the wheel (I'm 48), the stupidest mistake ever that I'm still a bit embarrassed by. Demolished the front end and both fenders, radiator, intercooler, intake, tons of small parts... however, and here's the good news, the body shop guys were ecstatic to finally be able to work on a "real car" after the usual "boring haulers" (then a week later they received another Camaro, an unfortunate 5th gen), and did an awesome job.

There is no way to tell the original paint apart from that on the new parts and the blends, except if using a paint gauge of course. Everything was replaced with OEM or my aftermarket choice parts (MRR, Roto-Fab, Velossa...), and the car is aligned better than from the factory or the dealership, I can literally take off at the light and drive half a mile without touching the steering wheel. Best of all, I went straight to my detailer after the paint cured and had the front end wrapped in Xpel, so it'll stay looking good for much longer.

All this is to say it's a matter of finding the right shop/people to fix up the car, it can be made better than ever. Good luck, hoping for the best for you
