Thanks for all good inputs from everyone. Looks like I shall keep on being at least at the higher half of the crosshatch mark, towards the theoretical "Max" sign (some dipsticks do have the actual "Max" word engraved at this area of the dipstick)

OMG, I know I don't have to read the thread, but seriously? The car takes 10 quarts oil... end of conversation.
