OP, I hear what you are talking about. When I saw the press release day video, I thought the same thing. Watching that in car Z06 C7 video above makes me realize at least the IN CAR videos have a strange "pulsing sound", kind of like an exhaust leak type of sound, or a missing cylinder kind of sound. I hate it. BUT.....When I saw the Nurburgring videos of the Camaros testing there, I was wetting my pants at the killer sound shot from the outside. I can still slightly hear the sound we are talking about, but its not as bad. Does anyone know, as asked earlier, was the firing order changed for the LT series motors vs the LS?

IMO, the best sounding engine award still goes to the LS7 at full song on a road course. I know most people seem to prefer the Ferrari wail, but not me. I also really hate the raspy sound of the new awesome GT350 engine. Its a masterpiece of a motor, but I hate its sound.....

My guesses . . . it's still an H-pipe exhaust but maybe the H is shaped/configured to work a little closer to and sound a little more like an X-pipe . . . and the tight gear spacing (guessing about 25% to maybe 30% steps - the 9th root of 7.39 is 1.249) keeps that motor singing in the upper rev ranges anyway.

I suspect either a tight torque converter or an aggressive TC lockup schedule, maybe both, likely a nod to fuel mileage, so it ends up sounding like the engine is always in step with road speed (unlike AT's with looser and unlocked torque converters).
