Mirror replacement

Has anyone had to replace or know how to replace the passenger side mirror assembly? Got too close to the garage door rushing my son to football practice and cracked the assembly.

I had to replace mine after my car was vandalized, someone decided to take it off in a parking lot. The dealer told me it was only repaired in one piece so that the whole assembly needed to be ordered painted and then replaced, even though the mirror was intact and only the bracket attaching it to the car was broken. I was in a hurry to get it fixed so I let the dealer do it without getting a second opinion from a body shop, wasnt too costly and was back after being painted in a couple of days. Install took a little over 2 hours or so.

Top Thrill, how did you go about fixing yours? It looks like the screws were forced out of the thread in the bracket, no?

The studs pulled right out of the mirror and where still bolted in the door. I took the inside door cover off. Removed the studs, epoxied them back in the mirror. Let it set up good and put it all back togeather. Took about 3 hour including the 1 hour wate time for the epoxy to set.

You can buy individual parts for the mirrors from GM partshouse according to their site.

The link I posted was a DIY on replacing the mirror.

Does anyone know how if the mirror assembly can be removed from the mirror case?

Yes. Once you remove the mirror from the door you basically need to go at it with a tiny screwdriver and remove all of the small screws.

Thanks for the help. Ordered the part from GM Parts Direct and a friend is going to paint it.
