Okay, I thought I remember something like that. I can't think of any functional reason why one would be preferred over the other from their point of view.

Since they are different codes, you *could* order two systems and put one on each relay, effectively having two kill switches. How you keep track of two identical remotes for different relays and not lose your mind is another story...

Pretty sure fuel and starter relays are different thus the incompatibility

Message Mobilistics to find out, they'll tell you. I'm pretty sure one of their employees has a 6th gen Camaro so they've done extensive testing.

Also, I'm not too worried about the relay standing out. Most thieves aren't going to spend the time poking around under the hood. They're looking to get in & out as quickly as possible.

Agreed, but I'd guarantee they are in these forums reading up on the stuff people are doing to protect the cars.

They are much more tech savvy / internet savvy than most give them credit for.

Which is why it's all about layers...

Did a little playing around with the Mobilistics unit and found out, at least on my 2017, that I can still get the remote start to work. If you hit the unlock button on the remote, then the activation button on the other remote, then lock and start. Works fine. It will also work if you hit the activation button after unlock and lock, before the start button. I'd be interested to see if that works on later year models.

I just tried this on my 2020 2SS - and it works! Cool find!

But how close do you have to be to the car?

Best of all, this technique also works around the module initialization glitch in 2016-2018 cars that causes some vehicle settings to occasionally disappear (happens much more frequently on remote start).

I also was about 5-10 feet behind it. Probably have to be pretty close, I think the Mobilistics remote has a pretty short range.

for the record, car jacking is when someone is in the car, usually robbed at gun point.

That's true, but any stolen property could be considered "jacked"...

"My car got jacked [stolen] from my driveway"....

If he had said "I was car-jacked", you would be correct.

But the subject was the car, not himself...lol

No biggie, just sayin'....

drive to toronto, our dollar is low so you'll have a fun trip out of it and we have multiple verified installters
