Brake dust and wheel detailing
Sorry guys the search function is not working right now.
I have the 56V option WHEELS, 20" LOW GLOSS BLACK 5-SPOKE ALUMINUM. I know very little about detailing and would like to know a good way to make these wheels stand out . So far I've used a couple of spray and rinse products that claim that's all you need to do . They help a little but become dull again very quick . Thanks in advance for any advice or opinions

I feel like if brake dust is a concern and you are willing to sacrifice some braking performance, you could invest in some ceramic pads, which leave off less dust.

A good sealant helps repel it, but eventually the dust will build up. Ceramic pads are the way to go.

Well, I have been accused of being a bit 'touched' when it comes to detailing.
My wheel treatment is: Initial Cleaning... Decon wash Clay the wheel face/spoke/barrel light (one step) polish. Ceramic coating Then just use a 'ceramic boost' every six months or so. The best part about the ceramic coating is it prevents dust, road debris, etc from sticking to the paint in the 1st place. Making washes a breeze. Ceramic pads are ok if you don't do any spirited driving and only care about the generation of dust. Ceramic pads are NOT performance pads. If you are just looking for a quick way to make them 'pop' for a weekend drive, after you wash the car, dry the wheels and then use a detail spray on them. No lasting protection, but they will look good for your C&C or evening cruise. Have fun!

Got some Maguiar products and also discovered the lug nut brush ! Turned out a lot better than the cheapy Wally world stuff I've been using . Matthew is the ceramic coating specific for wheels?

Kirk and Glen are great resources for detailing your car. Here’s another thread about wheels.

How to cure your brake dust blues:
1. Change to Powerstop Z26 pads: Z26-1835 front, Z26-1053 rear. 2. Put a couple coats of durable hydrophobic coating on the wheels. |

While there are coatings that are marketed for wheels...there is nothing special about them. Any ceramic coating will do. I use the 'old' formulation of the Adams Ceramic and Ver2 of their ceramic boost on my wheels. Works great, lasts long time.
