Also purchased another thing!

The famous JacFab boostalator! Really hope it gives me a little more top end and wake this turbo up a bit. Should get it installed tomorrow and have a drivers report.

Played with the new re-circulation valve today. Installation is pretty easy. Old valve is to the left and the new adapter is on the right.

Pretty much what it does is replace the plastic plunger on the old unit with one that seals better to prevent any boost leaks. Old one just pulls apart and the new adapter snaps in.

Installation took about 20 minutes. Went for a test spin right afterwards and am totally pleased with the results. This thing kicks a$$! Of all the exhausts and intakes, tunes, bolt on performance crap, this mod is one of the only ones that makes the car feel faster. Boost comes in just under 2500rpm and pulls to over 5500 rpm where before I would lose power above 4200rpm. I need to do some 0-60 pulls and get some numbers because I know its faster. Heck, no-lift shifting into second spins the tires! Only negative aspect is that the turbo noise is really loud but tolerable. When shifting from full throttle the turbo gives a neat flutter and a quick loud whistle that resembles a bullet ricochet. The next mod is going to be an air box with a hush mat liner to quiet it down a bit.

Car has been feeling kinda sluggish lately and pulled out the old torque app to see whats going on. Looks like the car was down to about 15-16lbs of boost so time to check for leaks. Borrowed this little guy off my cousin.

Test was pretty straight forward. Wish I took more pics of the process but it was really simple. Put the testor on the inlet of the turbocharger and had a friend keep their finger over the metal breather tube of the turbo and pressurized the system. The leak was a little hard to find but sure enough, was leaking out of the bolt holding on the map sensor before it goes into the throttle body.

A little pipe thread tape and BAM! Back to around 24lbs of boost baby! Car now feels peppy again.

The other big news is that once again, my car got hit in a parking lot FOR THE SIXTH EFFING TIME!!! It was a friend so we decided that I'm just going to make the repair myself. Luckily the impact didn't break the bumper and just ground through the paint and left a lot of white from his car. The bumper also had a bunch of rock chips and a few other scratches through the paint so its about that time for a refresh anyway.

Went to the local paint store for 2 spray cans of nightfall grey metallic. For reference purposes the paint code is G7Q or WA139X. This paint color was used on a ton of other cars but with different names such as "son of a gun grey" or "watkins glen grey" to name a few. Its also an excuse to try out one of the harbor freight spray guns. For $15 its worth a shot. Some other supplies include mixing cups, assorted sand paper, spot putty, and snack attack wally world "pringles".

It is a very in depth job at removing this thing! There's about 20 something bolts holding the bumper on with about as many clips holding the 2 grills in place. A drill with a 1/4 socket adapter with some long swivel extensions makes the job go a lot smoother. There's a vid made by lethal camaro on youtube that helped significantly.

My poor car! The world is a harsh place.

I didn't try to remove the running light assemblies because they seemed to be plastic welded to the bumper cover. Some touch up putty and a lot of sanding and we're ready for base coat and clear.

Harbor freight spray gun did a pretty good job! First attempt just spit clear over the project so I dialed down the paint flow and increased the air flow. Should of put a little more reducer in the clear to get a little less orange peel.

Now for the long process of wet-sanding to make it perfect. Half of it is done already but need to find some time this week to finish the passenger side and get some better pics. Also, I'm open to suggestions on how to lighten the bumper paint or darken the paint on the rest of the car.

And here it is with a freshly painted nose. Color is definitely a couple shades darker but going to purposely park it into the sun and see if it'll fade a bit by the end of summer. Overall, pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Had some fun at the flashlight drags in Waynesburg Pa today. They shut down the Green County airport for some 1/8th mile drags for a few hours.

Had a good race against a turbo Cobalt SS with some work done to it. Got him through the first 2 gears but third gear he picked up hard and got me by a fender in the end.

Best part about this car is the fill-up.

Was really hoping to get one last season out of my summer wheels but age has taken a toll on the Michelin pilot sports. Both front and rear tires are starting to split and chunk and I need fresh kicks for my trip to florida on the 5th of July.

Did some research and really wanted the Firestone Indy 500's in 295-30-20 but were $280 a tire. Found out Cooper makes an RS3 tire in a 305-35-20 for $180 at walmart! What else is neat is apparently the RS3's are a copy of the Mickey Thompson Street Comps. Got the back one's mounted and they look great but had to get the back of the BMW 343 wheels machined 4mm off to keep the rubbing on the fender down.

The front's didn't change too much. Going from the Michelin pilot sports in 265-35-20 to Cooper RS3's in 275-35-20. Purchased this set from Walmart as well for $110 a tire! Going to take them into walmart tomorrow morning and drop them off for mounting and balancing, then when I'm done with work, change em' in the parking lot.

Thought this was a neat picture for anyone deciding on what size tire to go with. Left tire is the new 275, middle is my worn out 265, and the right is my winter 245.

I'll get some good pics sometime this weekend when all the tires are matching and I get all the smashed cicada's off the car. lol

Love these new Cooper's! They grip better than my Nitto nt05's but that might be due to age. If I were to do it again I wouldn't go with the 35 ratio tire in the rear but man does it fill up that wheel gap right. No issues with the fronts.
