I think it’s the changes in the LT4 used in the blackwing for 2022. An improved version of the Eaton. It’s nothing earth shattering like a larger displacement, but would be more HP. I’m throwing out 20, since the Caddy is a little different. I’m just thinking and hoping it won’t make sense for Eaton to keep the current version of the SC in addition to the new one.

I don't think any of us know what makes the new Caddy engine different right now, it could be internal to the engine such a small cam change, could be better exhaust manifolds, or it could be something as simple a pulley change. 20hp is pretty easy to achieve so it could be anything. Either way, its not a major design change which is why I certainly think its possible to end up in the ZL1.

From the Cadillac announcement, with their LT4, it seems like the snout, lid, and maybe even LT5 TB. IMO - not much to be excited about, but for those wanting to keep warranties, the more stock power the better.

I DO like that blue... I don't know if I can pull that color off though...

There are some supercharger changes per MotorTrend,

“ The Blackwing's big, forced-inducted V-8's extra power—28 additional horses and 29 more lb-ft of torque compared to the LT4 in the third generation CTS-V, the car the CT5-V Blackwing mostly replaces—comes primarily from a combination of a new 1.7-liter Eaton supercharger, 46 percent more airflow into the intake plenums, new throttle bodies, and a new exhaust system.”

What colors is the ZL1 getting for 2022 besides Rapid Blue? What colors is it losing?

The engine is only rated at 18 more hp and 9 more pound feet of torque than our LT4s. Nothing to really get excited about in my opinion at least not to spend a lot of money to get to its specs. To each his own though!

Actually, the majority of “what has been upgraded” has been disclosed...

+1.

Mostly intake and exhaust. New TB.

Personally, the potential of Alpha 2 is especially intriguing. I fully admit that the new chassis is what I envy most.

CT5-V BW weighs in over 4100 lbs. 18HP don't fix that.

IMHO, 650 at 3832 trumps 668 at well over 2 tons. Not to mention an $85K base price.

I'm thinking that you can probably find 18HP with a ported TB, CAI and secondary cat delete for less than a grand...without a tune.

Yep! The performance difference would be nearly negligible if they had just rated it at 650/650 with that kind of weight...

Naa, if someone knows what has been changed it will get posted again here and it did. I can't spend all my life on this forum.

MT has this tidbit on the BW LT4:
Quote:
There's also a revised oil pan and oiling strategy that Cadillac developed after a 24-hour continuous track test in the automatic CT5-V Blackwing, and a half as long 12-hour continuous test of the manual version.
