2021 camaro rs spoiler

So, I’m about to change out the spoiler to a wicker bill spoiler off of American muscle. Really excited to do this, but I’m trying to plan my attack on this stock spoiler getting it off. Does any one have any tips and tricks on the best easiest way to get the spoiler off? I’ve already watched videos and looked at my car so I know what has to come off in order to get off. I guess I’m more or less worried that there’s a clip in the middle and I have a feeling that thing is going to be a royal pain to undo to release the spoiler. Thanks for any tips and tricks.

I’ve seen posts going back to 2016 on this. Pretty much everyone says it a bit of a PIA.

Here’s one thread.

Once you remove the bolts, the hard part is getting the adhesive off. It will be easier to get help. I used a crowbar wrapped in cloth and put down a towel on the trunk lid. If you get help, the other person can take string and start to slide it between the spoiler and the trunk lid as you pry up with the crowbar.

The clip isn't too bad; it is the 3M VHB tape that is a pain in the butt.

I put a 1LE spoiler on my LT1, and getting the factory spoiler off took a hour or two.
The fishing line only works for about 2 inches as there are spoiler mounting studs that block you from running the fishing line down the length of the spoiler.

Try using the newer braided fishing line. It’s extremely small diameter and strong. It should work well to separate the adhesive from the trunk lid. Suffix 832 is the line I’d recommend.

How does the fishing line fair with the paint? As in it didn’t scratch it?

I didn't read the post, since I haven't seen the movie yet....

The fishing line is very smooth, so there were no scratches. If it gets gummed up, cut off a new piece and keep going.
