actually your car appears to only be totaled in the insurance companies mind....the fenders crumpled along with the bumper support, the air bags deployed....it helped save your hubby from injury like a good car! I bet the cars frame is fine. They may want to total it out from your high mileage and the cost of airbags.

I recommend getting an attorney tomorrow morning and do not discuss anything with your insurance for any reason.
Will PM you one of the best in North Houston. |

Generally speaking, if the bags pop, it's a total loss. 102K? You can bet that they will write this car off.
I would start shopping around for a new car. |

Yeah I got the shops estimate today, it was over $14,000 so I'm guessing insurance will call with an offer early this week. |

I was not aware that insurance would cover aftermarket parts? I thought you needed a special type of insurance with an agreed upon value of the car to have aftermarket modifications covered as well?

That is not always the case. I was told if I had a list of my mods and costs, and as many receipts as possible they would consider them if they felt they added value to the car.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Really glad your hubby did not have any worse injuries. Hope you get a good settlement & a great replacement. It just would not seem for you to not have a Camaro but I know you have to get what is best for your stage of life. Kep us poeted.

Typically unless you let them know in advance about custom work making it more valuable (so they can charge you more) they don't really intend to pay for them. I got lucky on a Land Rover that was modded, but many times people don't get money back for that stuff.
Good luck!

Glad he's ok, sad to see another V6er go. I hope you find your way back into another Camaro.
