Culberson County is neither a completely wet or completely dry county according to TABC's web site (as of November 2010).
So I imagine, given Pappy's observation of their wine and beer menu, that this little gem of a hotel is probably in a wet area of the county And regardless, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think whether an area is wet or dry has any bearing on whether or not you can drink there. It just means that alcohol can't be sold in that area.

For those of you that will be joining us on the return trip and stopping at the El Capitan in Van Horn, I have attached the Menu for the hotel restaurant. Please take a look and see if you are interested in eating at the hotel on Sunday evening. I told the hotel manager we would give them an approximate head count a day before we arrive so they are prepared.
There is also a Chuys down the street from the hotel. Don't know if it is affiliated with the local Chuys but it is another option. I will try to contact most of you that are stopping with us to get a head count and provide it to the manager by Saturday afternoon. |
