Forwarding the latest news about good friend Scott Settlemire...
Update 6/12. Scott still has slow but steady improvement. I saw him at PT today and he was using his right hand a lot better. He is weak/ wobbly a little but I see some improvement. They are working with him on stairs. He is on regular food and his appetite is good. My guess is about 10 more days of this and then to another step down ( maybe a month?) to ready him for home. Just a guess though.

Good news!
Tom Henry11 hrs · Update on Scott. He is close to coming home. We need to solve a low blood pressure issue before he does. My guess is they need to balance the medication. His doctor is flying in next week to give him/ us an assessment. I imagine he will be making his own posts soon.

Wow -- hard to believe it's been nearly a year since my Mom and sis-in-law Kathy came over to find me unconsious in my bedroom on the floor -- I DO remember hearing Kathy call my name and coming into the bedroom and finding me half-in and half-out of a suitcase that had been sitting on the floor -- (from a trip to Charlotte a few days before -- )
I have no recollection whatsoever of my 2 weeks in ICU in Allegheny General Hospital -- I just remember of looking out the window and seeing bridges leading to downtown Pittsburgh - but woke up in Rehab at West Penn Hospital -- and having zero use of the right side of my body -- I remember friends coming in with my Mom and Kathy -- and I remember the nurses changing my diaper and having to catheterize me every evening -- God Bless them -- such relief -- I also remember the nurses giving me a refreshing shower -- was there a few weeks but still could not walk on my own -- from there I went to "Concordia Rebecca Residence" for a few weeks -- it was there that I learned to walk on my own -- and do the stairs by myself. Lastly -- Morgain Iorio (NEOCC) is on the Board of Directors of a group of senior citizen Care Centers -- and he arranged for me to go to Cuyahoga Falls, OH for the final two weeks -- they brought in therapists for me -- I left Cuyahoga Falls on July 3rd of 2017 -- when Dr. Silber (retired) flew up from Cape Coral FL and my cousins Tom and Sue Henry picked him up at PIT airport and came to bring me home -- Neil spent a couple of days with me observing and giving me wise wisdom (for which I can never thank him enough) -- Pleased to say that I stopped rehab in August 2017 -- and am home completely recovered and back up to 200 pounds. (I was 259 at one point before I retired.....and when I woke up in West Penn Hosp I weighed 168 -- ) Anyway -- I thank each of you for all of your prayers -- they do indeed work and I'm proof! And I thank you for all the passion you have for my beloved Camaro --

Only met you via the forum but soo glad to hear from you and that you're doing well. God Bless!
ps- I'm old enough to remember seeing the original Camaro tv commercial with the yellow SS coming out of the volcano while watching Bonaza. I loved it but I had just gotten a new GTO, so I talked my buddy into getting one. FF 45yrs of life and I finally got one as my retirement gift ...70 outside the car, 17 behind the wheel everytime |
