Looks promising, but performance wise we still don't know much. I read somewhere that expected 1/4 mile for the C8 is 11.1sec. Curious to any validation of that.

The C8 base cars will be about .5 quicker the the base C7 cars which is about 12.0 on a good day. Expect the base and the Z51 cars to be about 11.5 on a good day.

Yea I'd say mid 11s to low 11s. Maybe a 170 mph top speed.

I got a call from the dealership about my reservation request that I put in. So now I am officially on the waiting list!!

I think you will be bored with the Stingray after a few weeks coming out of a supercharged Hellcat and ZL1. Save yourself the depreciation loss and wait for the Z06 version of the C8.

The C8 has an impressive 0-60 that's for sure. But like I said in another post, what happens after 60 MPH? Stop light to stop light would be great. But most run ins on my local closed private owned track happen after 60 MPH. At that speed is the C8 gonna fall on it's face or will it still be strong? Considering that it is light weight, has 495 HP, and has the advantages of mid/rear engine, I'd assume that it would not fall on it's face after 60. The C7s pull strong and they will definitely be slower than the C8. But it still is not gonna pull like a Hellcat does. Nor will it pull like a ZL1 for that matter. I think it might be close since 1,000 pounds (compared to the Hellcat) and 500+ pounds (compared to the ZL1) is a lot of weight savings. So I wonder exactly how fast it'll be in a roll...

Try to find a dealership that will be getting a few allocations. The dealership I contact is the same as the one where I got my Zl1. They were able to get several ZL1s...mine was the second one they got and that was back in April 2017 whereas other dealerships could only get one. Since then they got several more including a ZLE. They also always have Z06s and even had a ZR1. When I called about the reservation they told me that they advanced me to the waiting list and I'm pretty high up on the list (pretty sure they tell everyone that tho). And the lady told me that they will be getting several of them with different options and trims. They just called today and left a message saying they have updated info. So I will call them back tomorrow. I was holding off until next July but...maybe I'll go ahead and satisfy the lease on my Hellcat (just a few thousand dollars) so I'll owe nothing on it, get the C8, and then I'll have my ZL1, Hellcat, C8, and X5 until July when I'll turn in the Hellcat. It is completely impractical to do this but hey...

Trap speeds will be a good comparison for how a car pulls at the big end. I'd estimate the Z51 C8 will trap around 122 mph in the 1/4 mile in the magazine tests. ZL1 is 124-125 mph. So, yes, the C8 won't pull as hard once traction is no longer an issue, but it won't be slow. I also think it will be slightly faster e.t. than the ZL1 (11.5 C&D) simply because of the 0-60 time being so stellar. And yeah, the C8 will be probably around 400 lbs lighter than the ZL1.

Looking back...the 2006 C6 Z06 trapped 127.1 mph in MT's first test, but that car was 505 hp and weighed only 3,147 lbs. Crazy fast for a 13 year old factory Corvette. By the way, that's the same trap speed C&D got with a C7 Z06.

I talked to them just now and they have a total of 13 allocations!! 3 are already ordered so there are 10 spots left!! They have all the options and pricing available too. And they say the first ones will be ordered in December with deliveries starting in January. I have an appointment for 5:45 PM today. If the numbers look good then I just might go for it!!

Did that dealer have any more info such as performance specs, such as 1/4 mile?

I doubt anyone has that kind of info yet. Besides GM.

My guess would be about 11.3-11.6 quarter mile depending on track and conditions with a 122 MPH trap speed.
