Our summer has been alternating between extreme oppressive heat & torrential rain. This week, rain. Was thinking about going to a car show in my little community tomorrow but calling for intermittent rain/thunderstorms. Not sure I can find a window to wash the car. We shall see.

I also posted this in the cosmetic maintenance section but wanted to pick you guys brains too:
Okay so back story: A little over a year ago when I was still working, I got into a mess driving to work. I turned off a main road into a road where there was some construction going on. Once I made the turn I realized they had just put down wet crush and run and there was at that point nothing I could do but go through it. I got it off as soon as I got home but the car sat with it on there in the parking lot in the sun all day. It dulled the anodized part of my wheels & nothing I have tried since then has helped. Well today I was washing my car & decided the tires needed some extra hep with cleaning. I had some Meguiars wheel & tire cleaner & had forgotten it was not supposed to go on anodized metal. When I rinsed it off, I noticed that an area on the anodized part that had looked previously like some sort of coating was coming off had gotten bigger & that the whole area looked shiny as new. I experimented a bit & found that with a little rubbing the Meguiars stuff was able to take the dulled coating off leaving the shiny metal. I did most of one wheel & right now it looks 100% better than the other very dulled wheels. I am worried though that I have removed a protective coating & that now the metal may tarnish. I don't know if I should finish doing the rest of the wheels or not. I also don't know if I should put some sort of sealer on it. What say you guys?

Ruby Camaro yes you polished off the clear coat on the wheel. Now it will tarnish and you will have to polish it often to keep them looking nice. Or you can send all of the wheels to a company that refurbishes wheels. I have seen there ad somewhere maybe in the vendor section but if not just google wheel refurbish and you can find them. They have wheels ready to ship so you might be able to send yours and get some shipped quicker if you want to do that. I had that happen to me once and it got all on the paint of my truck and I had to have it repainted as it stained the light blue color on it. If it didn't get on your paint your lucky.

Marsh Harbour, Bahamas is GONE! Getting rain and light wind here now. Worst is supposed to be around 3:00 this afternoon when the eye will be off the coast of Jacksonville. Expecting Tropical Force winds but not Hurricane Force. Everything is closed here.
