Screw it - gonna order a zl1
I ordered an Lt1 trim model car early 2022. Came in last summer. Really like the car and some of the minimalist ways about it. Put a Procharger on it and it scoots pretty good (10.70’s in good air) but I just can’t bring myself to tearing into the bottom end to replace pistons and rods. I’m about at the limit for the lt1 engine. E50 tune and 7psi and I want more. Yes some people have pushed them further but…. Zl1 engine shouldn’t need as much ethanol content and won’t need a stall converter. Procharger doesn’t 60ft very hard. 1.70 is my best. Thinking I can get the zl1 in the 9’s with bolt ons/ ported blower and some more boost. Anyways someone talk me out of it or in to it

Close to zero chance of getting a ZL1 if you are just ordering now.
Best bet is to do nation-wide search and find some on dealer lots or used with low miles. Grand River is producing Cadillac/Camaro in a 80/20 split.

I talked to the manager today at the dealer. He said they have a customers being built now and that I could get the next zl1 allotment. There is a bunch in stock around here surprisingly. When I ordered mine there was literally no Camaros at all on dealership lots. I guess they are building more or ordered cars are dropping

Your best bet is to go on the Chevrolet website and do a search. I found non Chevrolet websites had lots of incorrect or deceptive advertising (you pick). As long as you’re not looking for a 1le you can find quite a few cars. As far as whether you should buy one or not, here’s my two cents……
I’ve gone down this rabbit hole so many times, and have literally squandered a lifesavings worth of cash. Buy the top dog, because it’ll never be fast enough and you’ll never get your money back. If you buy a rare animal, you can always put it back to stock and at some point it may not be as large of a hit. No one wants someone else’s modded car. Don’t worry most people here share the same sickness. |

It’s just a question of $, isn’t it? If you can comfortably lose $ on your car existing car and mods, while still be able to buy a ZL1, and do the mods to it you want to do, why not?
If it’s a stretch financially and this is just kinda of a whim, without thinking through the medium term implication to finances, that’s another story altogether. |

Of course I say get it but, it's a money decision you have to make. I can only say you won't be disappointed.

Go for it is my advice. As others have said, you won’t have any regrets but ultimately it’s your decision to make.
