Anyone planning on swapping out the rear spoiler?

Can't help but wonder how the ZL1 will look with the RPI or 6LE Design high rise rear spoiler and wickerbill. Not that I dislike the stock spoiler but a Z06 style high rise spoiler and wickerbill would look bad ass on the car.

I've already called southern car parts 2 weeks ago to find out if they knew the zl1 mounting specs for the acs deck spoiler. The guy got on the phone with acs, and they're supposedly waiting on a replacement zl1 trunk lid from gm to determine this exact thing.

I plan on changing mine immediately unless that thing looks 3000% percent better in person than it does in photos.

From the pics I've seen the mounting points look the same as the SS spoiler but I could be wrong.

Hmm, interesting. Wonder about RPI and 6LE Designs??? Hopefully the mounting points are the same.

It'll be the same spoiler they're already selling, just possibly different mounting points.

you do realize the hundreds of hours in the wind tunnel that resulted in the spoiler that is on the car, right? It is functional and while it may not be the cool blade or whatever you think looks better, messing with the rear spoiler can really upset the dynamics of the rear of the car under high performance conditions. Do what you want but this isn't a ricer trying to win a beauty contest....it serves a purpose.

I hardly think replacing the rear spoiler with a high rise Z06 style spoiler with a wickerbill is going to completely mess up the aerodynamics of the car. The beauty of a bolt on spoiler is it can be removed and replaced easily.

What do you use to wrap in black like that? I want to do that, too...

That would look sweet! Wrap the mirrors to match.

Any change to the front splitter, spoiler, or other aero components...WILL effect the high speed performance of the car. Will you notice it on the streets? No, probably not. High Speeds? Absolutely...on the track? An aftermarket, untested spoiler may very well be detrimental to the aero balance of the car, the feel, and/or the performance.

Therefore....change it for looks...and realize won't be any performance gains.

This. It's all about air flow and how it is designed to flow around and importantly 'off' the back of the car.
Do it wrong and you could be adding lift at a higher speed.

I just came back from SEMA and I can say that there are alot of Gen 6 spoilers on the way...and will be available in the aftermarket. I found half a dozen full Carbon Fiber ones, some of them adjustable similar to the Z06. There will be a lot of choices. Give it a little time, wings are on the way...

If you are going after the track record at the "Ring" or even your local racetrack, then I agree that messing with the ZL1's stock set up might not be the best thing to do in terms of aerodynamic balance. Outside of that, you should be okay
