Need good external GPS please

I have been researching HIGH end solutions like GARMAN Catalyst but for now I would like to get a SIMPLE very accurate standalone GPS that would work with my iphone and apps like RACE HERO.

Can anyone please share their experience with something that works well for you???

THANKS!!!

A lot of people will use something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003YCZINA...roduct_details and it works for them. I know we used it on our lemons car, and it was dead on to the track timer, no issues at all.

I bought one however and It did not work for me at all. My GPS readings were great one session then horrible the next. I got a catalyst instead.

I bought a Racebox mini recently. seems solid. had issues finding GPS when I was waiting in grid, but got a connection and was flawless after I got moving.

If you have an Iphone the APEXpro is a great solution. 10Hz GPS. I have seen the racebox Mini that eimarshall talked about that claims 25hz. but i have not used it.

Christian, this ONE says that it is NOT compatible with IPHONE which may be why it didnt work for you.

I don't have an iphone

It would work some sessions and other sessions it was literally off by like 200 feet. Clear skies. I had it double sided tape to the top of my dash behind the steering wheel.

this one works well. i use sticky velcro to hold it in place. make sure it's set up properly and you have tested it thoroughly with your app before you do an actual event.

many apps also have an FAQ on what external gps units are compatible. they usually have a helpful list

THNAKS

Thanks guys for the responses. I think I am going to get a RACE BOX mini and use it in conjunction with Harry's Lap Timer. The SPECS on the mini in theory should give me the most accurate timing.

I have been using RACE HERO app but THAT one is NOT compatible with the RACE BOX Mini.

I haven’t used the racebox app(it seemed kinda junky when i played with it for 30seconds), but i paid for the RaceChrono Pro and the racebox works well with that. It does regularly record at 25Hz.

Oh yeah, it's a teeny little thing... mine is zip-tied to the fog-vents by the windshield for reference.
