Dealers should not require any deposit on a order why?, Everybody answered that question by saying how hot the market is and how conditions are so different now why would a dealer not want to have extra inventory? If a deposit is so important they’re worried about getting stuck with a car in this market that’s the opposite of reality. In today’s market they should take an order for zero down just to get a car coming their way and be happy if the potential buyer backs out there’s 10 people waiting to buy it. By throwing these crazy deposit amounts around that’s for a market when nobody is buying. I’m talking about ordering a car not one that is in transit already. Crazy opposite world going on. Asking for these crazy deposits turn people off from ordering in the first place. Feeding the problem.

My first order I didn't put down any money, it was my local dealer in town. It's still sitting at 1100. My second order, I put down a $500 refundable deposit to hold the order the dealer already had at 3400. This dealer was out of state, so I did this all over the phone.

My dealer asked for $2,000 non-refundable deposit. I was able to get that to be refundable until the order was accepted in case I was stuck sitting at 1100 status forever. Out of about 7 dealers I contacted, they were the only one that would accept my Supplier Pricing benefit so I didn't have a problem paying that much. I have every intention of buying the car and it goes toward the final cost so I didn't have any concerns.
