Perhaps they ordered before GM started placing constraints on configurations. . .

Maybe beeeeeeeeecause the PDR went on constraint *after* my order was placed?

They wouldn't have taken the order otherwise. The first thing they did after going through what I wanted was to cross check that with the current constraints.

And as far as removing the PDR... this will actually be a fourth car in the driveway of a single person household. It will be a weekend car primarily used for srs bznss autocross and possibly / probably track sprints.

I can wait.

Luckily for me I missed ordering things that are on constraint.

However I knew nothing about any of this allocation/constraint stuff and my dealer offered no information when I ordered it. However I am affected by the nationwide constraint now on 2SS. What I don't understand is what they are doing 8 hours a day in the factory since it ain't building cars.

There's enough demand for non-constrained vehicles to keep them busy, e.g. 1LT/LT1/1SS are not constrained

Yup, I believe the PDR was still available when I put my order in, although my dealer must have had some idea that it might be an issue as he warned me that he might be contacting me later to see if I wanted to remove it.

And while I might be willing to get rid of that feature, I definitely want a 2SS with the 1LE package. If I can't get that, I'll just forgo the entire thing. Like KorryB, this is just a weekend toy, so while I really want one, it's not a necessity where I have to compromise because I absolutely need a vehicle.

My salesman actually asked me if I wanted the PDR back in December, and I told him that I had heard that orders were being delayed because of this feature, so I had him take it off. I did get lucky with the 1LE constraints as I didn't think that the extra firm ride would be to my liking. So now that people are aware of these constraints, have you guys updated your orders? This is what I was referring to, if you know that there is a supply issue, why not change what you're asking for? If the option is that important to you, then it's going to be a waiting game.

They can build and let the vehicles sit like they're doing with Ford F150s. I hear that there are lots and lots filled with F150s awaiting a part. If I were a wagering man, I figure that once the supply of these parts is replenished, F150s may go on sale with all the extra supply that they're going to have.

The very post you quoted contains the answers to all of your questions.

This will probably be the last sports car I purchase. I intend on keeping a long time so I want it the way I want it. No choice but to wait. If I settle for less I won't be happy.

Are the constraints just on 2SS and ZL1 cars? What about 1SS 1LEs?

Can't remember where I saw it, but supposedly Wild Cherry builds are done sometime in April 2022. Can anyone confirm this? I'm hoping mine gets in before the deadline.

I'm with SS_Don on this one, having to wait is the lesser of these two evils. Looking back in regret a year from now and constantly being reminded of what one really wanted but didn't wait for is much worse.

The 1LE option was the only option that I was on the fence about. Hearing the reviews that if you're not going to track the car, that the ride may be a little too harsh is what ultimately swayed me. The PDR, I've already seen some good after-market products, and the fact that it doesn't remove the parking sensors is fine by me as I'd rather have a warning on approaching a curb too closely than to have the rear-end of the car stick out too far and some derp driving too close to the fire lane.

But, if the GM PDR is really that important to you then it's that important to you. My point is if you know that there are supply issues with a specific option, it doesn't do any good to complain, all you can do is alter your order and hope for the best.
