ZL1 vs C8
have a allotment for a C8 coming up but have a love for the ZL1 and with so few of these cars I was thinking of getting one instead of the vette-so which car would you go with the C8 costs more than a loaded ZL1 and you will be one of 30000 C8 cars in the market. I also have to look at resale as being a senior citizen cannot drive this car forever.

Have a 22 C8 and have a 23 ZL1 on order to keep it company. They cost about the same. Totally different animals to drive.
This is a really tough call if you can only have one or the other. |

For me it was ultimately the c8 doesn’t have a manual I don’t want a performance car that isn’t. Yes I guess I am one of those people I will admit it

That is a hard choice. I went from a 2016 C7 Z51 3LT to a 2018 Camaro ZL1. Then went the ZL1 to a 2019 C7 Grand Sport 2LT. This was right before the launch of the 2020 C8 and my preferred dealer had around 30 C7's sitting on the lot they had to move. Got a better deal using my GM card and rebates and dealer cash (a little hidden secret), than what employee pricing was.
After selling my C7 GS, almost $7k more than I paid, I am in a 22 ZL1. The ZL1 is a beast and I really like it. But being biased to the Corvette, given the opportunity, I would take a C8 over the ZL1. But I refuse to pay what the greedy dealers are asking for mark ups on the C8 or the ridiculous asking prices in the used market. The dealer I usually use would order a C8 for me, but with a 18-24 month build window. The owner of my dealership said they just refunded all C8 Z06 down payments because they have no idea how many they can get or have them by. And it's not a small time dealer. Sorry, a little off topic, both great vars but the C8 would be my first choice. |

If I didn't mind a boring DCT/Auto it would be a really tough choice. The C8 is very nice, and I love the removable roof. Convertible option would be really hard to say no too, very nice cars. The C8 is a game changer, with no real equal in its price at this point.

ZL1.
C8 isn't a Corvette. And auto isn't a real sports car. Let the screaming begin..... |

my thought was ZL1 one of a couple thousand C8 one of 25000 plus at some point Camaro will be lost. I hate paying MSRP so if the ZL1 gets some discount i will be buying one if not I guess a C8 will be in my garage. Just purchased a 64 vette so a ZL1 would be nice to burn some of the tires up as the 64 well it looks great but drives just like a 64.

Both great but very different.
The ZL1 will feel more visceral than the C8. The ZL1 can be had with the great Tremec 6060 manual or the quick shifting A10. The C8 will be quicker off the line with its mid-engine architecture and weight over the rear axle. The ZL1 with the LT4 pulls harder in the 60-130mph range. The C8 will feel more refined, the ZL1 is refined as well but has more personality with the supercharger whine and louder exhaust note. In order to closely match the content in a ZL1 you will need to spec a C8 with Z51, mag ride suspension and 2LT trim, which will put you in the $80k+ range MSRP assuming your dealer will sell you one at MSRP. I rarely ever see a ZL1 on the road. C8s are pretty common now. Since the Camaro program is being sunset, I would lean toward the ZL1 since you could always trade it for a Stingray when that market calms down. The number of DCT failures in the C8 are also becoming troublesome.

well since we have a huge price bump for the 23 model year it inches closer to a loaded C8-The camaro could be a huge seller but they keep jacking up the price and dealers think the consumer will pay more than sticker for there car. Things could change but looks like as of now if my number comes up the C8 will be in my garage-what a shame.
