Chewed my differential.
Hey guys. Long time no talk haha. Long story short I got a Tesla and have been occupied with the different form of mechanics it brings with it and being able to just punch it whenever and not worry so much and I forgot 100% that my Camaro has the stock rear gear in it and couldn't hold my full power... did a clutch dump and riiiiinerrr went my rear end.
I haven't had the chance to pull it apart yet, but after we pushed it to the side, I did a test of the movement again, and it moves a little bit, but went back to making the grinding slip noise after about 10in of movement forward movement under its own power. I've never done one before so I'm trying to get a few ideas. 1. % Chance of it being the spider gears (if I'm correct a possibility) 2. Probably going with 3.91s on my existing Cam setup with 48x-whp / 47x-tq Sound like a good idea?- Coming from my SS 3.45s to the 3.91s for a good street setup (no top speed runs is what I mean) ...I know it's discussed a lot.. Also I will say my 3.45 gear and current setup would pull about a car length on a factory CTS-V from a 40 roll. I'd like to keep that statistic or better it... we use each other as a benchmark. 3. Best brand for durability for future mods and quietness of the gears. I've heard good about AAM and heard a little bit about Motive products and Yukon around town.. Whats everyone's thoughts?

Are you sure it is not just a broken axle?
If it is the diff and you want stout get a ZL1 lump.

Unless it shredded the splines, I wouldn't think axle. I looked under and they still look like they're in good shape..

GM 3.91 gears works well in a 6 speed manual car.

+1 for the 4.10. You've got the cam to let her scream, now time for the gear to keep her wound up.

Well - I love the 4.10 with the stock cam. It suits a stock or modified cam with an M6, IMO. I have a feeling that a 4.10 with the 4.027 in the 6L80 would be a bit extreme. Plus the 1.152 4th gear would probably not make the quarter mile on a modified car.

Just to be clear guys, I meant my Cam setup is aftermarket... not stock, stage 3 TSP... I would jump on the 4.10 but I think it may just be a little high for me now with the cam setup... maybe even 3.91 is too high...but I like the feedback people have been giving about it...
Also my shop said there's a possibility it could be the output shaft of the trans... soo I'll be waiting on that update when they get a chance.. If in that case of it being the output shaft, I'll do clutch while in there, output shaft, carbon syncros, bronze shiftpads and a bronze cup.

Chewed my differential.
They looked more in depth today and it’s the ring and pinion like I originally thought.
So far looking like it will be the 3.91s. Anyone have any brand recommendations? Also what’s needed for this... I see some people mentioning just the gears but some saying a whole install kit from GM. Which was like 400$+ on a few sites. They’re in the middle of a move so I’ve got some time to bring them the parts.
