Who here has successfully used transport mode for storage
Putting the Camaro in storage until Spring and I dont have electrical access. I have read threads about transport mode but cant find any threads about its successful use over the Winter. So, who here has used it for Winter storage and came back to a live battery in the Spring? Trying to decide between transport mode and disconnecting the battery.

Aside from the hassle of disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, what is the advantage of leaving the battery connected? I don't think you lose any saved settings when disconnected, but even in transport mode there is a small parasitic drain. From what I've read here, your car may or may not have the same high or low drain as others, regardless of transport mode. Personally, I would give it a full charge before driving to storage, then disconnect if it's a month or more. Batteries do not like to lie dormant with a partial charge.

It only takes a 1/4" ratchet with a 10mm socket and maybe 30 seconds to disconnect the battery. I would do that before I left the battery hooked up for months if I couldnt put a battery tender on it.

I just put my 2017 in storage, for the first time.
According to the manual...for extended storage... Disconnect the Negative terminal or use a trickle charger. Will see what happens in April 2020! |

I've been storing my car every year, change oil add proper amount of fuel stabilizer. Just disconnect negative battery cable,DON'T close trunk lid fully my 2017 SS doesn't have Trunk with a keyed lock, you'll end up climbing through the back seat to open it.

I just hooked up a battery tender to the battery post underneath the hood. My camaro fires up right away like I just put it away for the night. If you don’t want to use a tender, people that have used transport mode without any issues.

You can try it. I'd think it would be easier and cheaper to pull a cable now than roll the dice and have to pull a battery later...

If you are going to disconnect the battery, take a couple more minutes and remove it from the car and bring it inside where it is warm and put a tender on it. Batteries don’t like sitting with no activity when it is cold.
