I should have bought a ZL1

I was at the dealer for the wiring updates and ask about this and was told it wouldn’t work on my 17 because the software in the car won’t support the new charger. They said they called GM about it.

I think it would work, I would test it but I need to find a 2SS center console harness which already has the wireless charging pad as an upgrade.

In comparison, I bought a USB (CarPlay) module from a 2017 Camaro ‘assembly line’ unit which claimed wasn’t ever used. Fit in my 2016 and took a few hours but full functionality works and continues to work with CarPlay/Music/etc.

The charger does NOT rely on the bcm. It functions as a stand alone. There is a status signal out wire that some cars use to show the status on the radio display. This is only a output from the charger. The only input is 12v used as power.

Just like @6spdhyperblue stated the charger does not rely on the bcm. I did this upgrade on my 2015 GMC Sierra which didn't have the charger to begin with, i purchased the upgraded module that has the 3 coils and used an oem connector to plug into the charger when i built my harness wrapped it in tessa tape for the oem look ,then i tapped into the cig lighter since its on the rap circuit that way it didn't have constant power. If the camaro's are like most new gm vehicles that have the wireless charger they are going to have four wires, power, ground, status signal for the bcm to display the charging icon on the radio, and a fault signal that also goes to the bcm. But for someone who is retrofitting the only wires you need are going to be the ground and power.
