Question 2019 Camaro Reverse Lights

I went cover to cover in my owner's manual, Googled, and even called the parts department at the dealership(I have a GM part number, but no other number) and no one can tell me what the replacement bulb is for the reverse lights on my 2019 Camaro. Can anyone help me out? Thank you in advance.

I plan on switching to LED's and hopefully Diode Dynamics has a set that doesn't require a special harness.

Chevy dropped the ball on the marker lights(again) and the reverse lights(again). LED's last longer, provide better light, and look cooler.

I used these on my 2019 Camaro SS, they work perfectly.

I was going to do the harness till I realized on the '19 and '20 models the bumper has to come off to remove the tail light housing. I just did the resistor and gen5diy bulbs and that worked great.

I installed mine without removing the rear bumper.

Oh I did too. It would just be easier to take the lights out which you can't do unless you remove the bumper.

I'm trying to find led reverse light for my 20 zl1 but I cant seem to find any. I have heard of issues people have replacing the bulbs. What is the best route to take without having issues?

Thread bump. I thought I'd just settle with halogen bulbs, until I visited a friend's place last night and I couldn't see anything that's not lit up by the LED license plate lights. So yeah, I ordered a pair of VLED HO6, and this is something I would have to deal with when they arrive.

I will try to attach small resistors first, but in case that doesn't work, I will grab the harness.

How did you go about doing that? I took a few pics under the bumper today and it looks like you may be able to reach the connector by jacking the car up and reaching it from below the car. Not 100% sure if this would work, though.

With the ijdmtoy kit mentioned above, each bulb has its own harness and resistor. No need to remove the bumper. Simply change the bulb and attach resistor as shown on these pics.

I did the Gen5DIY harness on my 19Z for the LED’s and it can in fact be done without removing the bumper. I was able to slide my arm up into the bumper cavity from the diffuser and disconnect the harness mostly by feel. It can be a pain to disconnect but once you do it’s a simple plug and play! I’d take note that those resistors had a lot of room to bounce so I zip tied them to the harness to limit that, but it is possible with some patience and nimble hands

Thanks for mentioning this option, but I prefer the VLED HO6 bulbs as the chips are aligned with where the filament is in the halogen bulbs. It would replicate the beam pattern better than most other bulbs on the market.

Thanks for confirming my thought. If it has to come to buying the Gen5DIY harness, that's what I will do.

Welp, got it working with a 200 ohm resistor. No glow and reverse cam shuts off properly. Only installed it on the driver side LED.

I will probably get a higher wattage resistor. I used a 1/4 W resistor which is below the wattage it will see during usage.

P=V^2/R, so (14 V)^2/200 ohm=0.9ish W. It worked okay in the short durations I left my reverse on, but in the long run, I will get and solder a 1 W resistor on just to be safe.

Quick snip of the backup lights at the gas station.

So much better now.
