Was going to post this something. I bet oil wasn't at proper level. I also hope you put in the dexos2. Sorry man.

Well, he took it to the dealer for the service that was done for i, so if proper oil type wasnt put in it, the dealer needs to hold some responsibility for the kaboom also....

Sucks man, hope all turns out well for you. Keep us posted

I'll be following this post to see if it's covered and i gm sees if it was a high oil temp issue and won't cover it
Oil doesn't lose its availability to lubricate at elevated temperatures, it just gets thinner.

250F isn't terrible for quality synthetics. Adding an thermostatic oil cooler while beneficial you may have warranty issues associated with it.

Op should be OK since his car wasn't modded obviously an engine defect caused the failure guess we will hear once he gets it back.

Guys, all good questions. I will stress, dealer serviced 100% with their knowledge I was taking it directly to track this weekend and spoke at length with Service Advisor about same as they service Corvettes and Camaros that are tracked - it was a $1,000 service when you include the strut bar I had installed. I do this specifically because I do not want blow back if anything ever happens. The same reason I do not mod my cars. The car was serviced Tuesday. I will pull the service ticket tomorrow and relay details if they can be derived from the ticket as to oil amount, type, etc.

Man this sucks, I hope the dealer steps up! So on my 2015, TWICE the dealer only put in 5 qts....TWICE! Always check it before you roll out of there.

You did the right thing by doing all of the track day services before tracking it for situations just like this. I have done the same thing (correct Dexos 2, rear end flush, A8 service) and I recommend everyone do it that plan on tracking their car. Don't give GM a reason to potentially deny your claim. Do what they ask, and hopefully they'll do the right thing. I'm looking forward to the (positive) outcome of this. Good luck!

My first thought - is it dry sump? - I think I read they could not fit it into the Camaro.

But this is why dry sump exists - very high probability

They'll fix it up for you

Did you check oil level before or after your first session?

As to oil level - yes all good and always checked before each session. Same with tire wear and tire pressure as well as lug nuts. I felt the motor coming apart as I depressed the pedal and, before I hit 5k, it was all over. It happened in less than a few seconds.

08-09 C6 LS3 Z-51 had a 6 qt. oil capacity and a shallow oil pan due to the cars low stance. The dry sump was added in 2010 (GS) because of oil starvation issues on track during high g-force left handers. I believe we have a deeper oil pan and a 10 qt capacity that SHOULD keep the oil pickup submerged. I don't think GM would make that mistake again. At least I hope not.

I hope they repair and get the car back to you quickly. If any track is going to stress a car, that is certainly a track that would do it. Sounds like maybe a valve spring or retainer failure, but am interested to hear what the actual diagnosis is.
