Since it's unlikely you'll be going to the track in the winter, you could switch to a 5w-30 in the cold months (better fuel economy and better suited to the temperatures), and 5w-40 in the summer/track season.

I will be running the Motul Dexos 2 5W-40 for track after my new engine is in the car and I have achieved the 500 mile break in procedure. I will monitor temps and let you know how it looks on track in the hot state of Texas.
