Rare vs Valuable.
I currently own a 2016 SS sedan and a 2018 ZL1 ILE. Both rare cars. The SS is arguably the rarest. I owned a very rare Z28, a 1977 with aluminum bumpers, no console, no AC, no power windows. The 77 was worthless, no one wants one. It was far more rare than even my SS. Funny thing about rarity is it rarely translates to value. Desirability is the measure of value. So the point of this is despite how cool you think your car is if it isn't desirable it's worthless. BTW I wish I still had that 77 Z28, it was a fun car.

To give a point of reference there were over 14,000 Z/28's made in 1969, there were less than 12,000 SS sedans made in 4 years of production. The 1977 Z/28 numbers were fewer than 1,400. Rare cars.

I'm corn-fused (old Nebraska term)...
Sedan = 4 doors, as in a CTS Coupe = 2 doors, as in a Camaro Am I missing something? If so, please set me straight!

He is referring to the Chevy SS that was basically the former Pontiac G8 with a different front/rear.

Interesting related story I can share. I bought a 2004 GTO M6 for less than $28k. I drove it 11-1/2 years and 115k miles. I listed it on Craigslist for $9,800 on Saturday night and was contacted within 15 minutes by a guy that want to come right over with cash. That car was rebuffed by the overall car community but became very desirable anyway. Your SS will be similar. FYI - I made the cash buyer wait until he could meet me at the bank Monday. He handed the money to the teller, she handed me a deposit slip, I signed the title and the car was his.

Easy to do. The naming of this car was a Chevy blunder.

OP very good point. I'll take it one further. My ABM Camaro is rare (3,903 made), it is desirable as most I've seen at dealers don't make it a week and some not even hours. However, they're not much if any more valuable than any other 2010. Some people charge and get a premium because of the rare color, but not most.
On a side note, the G8, GTO, SS cars are pretty awesome and IMO will continue to hold their value. For example look at a '94-'96 Caprice vs Impala. A Caprice goes for $2-$5k right now, but a virtually identical Impala goes for $10k-$25k depending on condition and mileage 26 years later. I believe the G8/SS will follow this trend of maintaining value and the GTO has held value as it is hard to find one under $15k in reasonable condition.

A used car is worth how much the buyer is willing to spend.
Low mileage and originality will always bring in more valuable. Your old 1977 Z28 is a good example of this. A 1977 Z28 with rust, 500,000+ miles, and on its 5th engine/3rd transmission is worth maybe $2,000 (regardless of its factory options). An all-original, showroom quality, numbers matching 1977 Z28 with 1,000 miles could bring $50,000+ in some markets. It all depends on how much someone is willing to spend.

I considered a SS but it was way over priced.

I considered the SS too.
Loaded with too much stuff, too high a price, and a little low on the HP. Definitely would of got the M6. I put one in my 94 Caprice and it was a blast!

Before I bought my Camaro, I was considering an SS. 10k price difference for less performance and less style really seemed off to me. I love them but not that much. If I get a sedan now it will be a CTS V.
