Yeah, you can still control the vehicle, but it's the surprise of not having power steering that gets you...

I'm just guessing here but the 14 crashes involved people that were probably driving one handed, possible while using the Cell Phone... mostly younger people drive these cars and are more likely to use a Cell phone while driving.

But had GM tried to say it was the floormats or some other silly excuse? no, they are doing what it takes to make it right the first time...

BUT if yoiu drive with both hands even being surprised you can usually keep control.. Have you ever had a power steering belt break? Used to happen alot back in the 60's and 70's. I have and never lost control from surprise... Loss of power steering should not "Surprise" someone so much that they lose control... it really isn't that hard to control a car when the power steering goes out...

well GM certainly wouldn't want to try to hide it after what Toyota is going through right now! Toyota wouldn't even be in trouble if it didn't get caught hiding the issue.

I just hope that the recall is only affecting the 2005-2010 Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007-2010 Pontiac G5 models. You know how later on a number of other vehicles start to have the same fate. I hope there’s a quick solution for those Cobalt and Pontiac G5 owners. But I have faith that GM is on top of the problem before things start to get worst.
