After 4 alignments and a lot of track use I'm finally going to replace the bolts. For sure they are a lot cheaper online

I just purchased the rear camber and toe bolts online at gmpartsdirect. 12 bolts will cover several alignments and were $118.50 shipped.
I'll be supplying them to the local Chevy dealer or to whoever does future alignments. A lot cheaper than buying them locally, but still freaking expensive for bolts. |

i found that ever TTY bolt on this car measured the same after being properly torqued as the new GM bolts using a starrett micrometer.

If the bolt did not (permanently) stretch with the proper tightening spec, then it did not yield and there is no degradation to the bolt. It can be reused.

I just finished doing track alignment on my ZLE. Based on Jimmy’18’s post above, I was very careful breaking loose the front strut bolts. I was afraid I was going to snap my breaker bar, but finally got them loose and got it done without doing any damage. I used new bolts in the rear and tightened per spec. It took WAY more torque to achieve the specified angle than I would have ever put on a bolt that size normally, so I’m not surprised if most shops don’t get them tight enough. We will see how well it holds.

So only 2 bolts in the rear are replaced correct? My alignment guy caught this, I didn't even know but he said I need 3 bolts on one side, 2 for camber and 1 for toe.
So I'm confused. |

Two bolts per side on rear. Nuts can be reused.

So after much research on this I purchased new bolts. Brought it to my alignment shop told the guy. He was friends with a GM exec and called.him.because I wasn't really sure we had to replace them. Long story short they started saying to change these bolts after "something happened" they can't talk about but their lawyers made them put it in there. Use them a few times then change them will be fine. Don't have to take it from me. But that's what went down and I was there for all of it.

I did alignment before my first track day in the ZLE, and rechecked it afterwards and found no change. New bolts, tightened to torque + angle specs. Not much curb hopping at Roebling Road, though. Checked again after two days at Road Atlanta, and found the LR toe had shifted slightly, and the RR toe had shifted to over half a degree of toe-out. Now I need more bolts... I was hoping that the issues most people were having was the result of improperly tightened bolts, but I’m convinced now.
