GM Lowering Kit Photos

Hey folks,
Here are some pictures of my 2018 1SS with the GM lowering kit and 1LE swaybar kit installed as well as 1LE sized VS forged rims and Michelin PS4S tires. When I was considering the GM kit, I had a lot of folks ask for pics so they could see what it looked like on the car. Well, here you go.

Your Camaro looks awesome!

*Edit* Please share your observations regarding the ride and handling characteristics relative to the stock suspension.

looks great...did you get the dealer to do a "trim height relearn" of the ride height sensors if your car is equipped with MRC shocks?

The lowering/handling kit combo is specifically for the passive damper cars.

Hard to do a direct comparison since I had GM install these before I took possession of the car - they cover full factory warranty if installed before leaving the dealership with GM parts. But, I did own a 2017 SS fully stock for about a month prior to this one. The ride is slightly harsher, but the handling is markedly better. To me it is a no brainer. The shocks are tuned for the lower spring ride height, unlike if you just got aftermarket springs. So they work very well together to give a good ride quality and great handling. That said, if you have MRC, you can reprogram the ride height as mentioned above. If you're non-MRC, this is the only way to properly lower the car and maintain good ride quality.

Very nice and I went the same route after speaking with the GM engineers at PRI here in Indy. Love the look, stance as well as the improved handling!

Everything about your car is gorgeous - the color, the stance, the hood. Thanks for sharing.

Did you do the sway bar kit as well, or just the lowering?

I like the look of the GM kit but what advantage does it hold vs aftermarket drop springs?

It gives you a better look as well as performance. When talking to the engineers at PRI30 in 2017 they told me I could go Eibach or BMR, as they were familiar with the aftermarket vendors, but they told me they realized they were missing out on the buyer who wanted to do more to their car and still have a warranty to cover the car. That was a plus for me and then there is the aspect that they said they designed their parts based on the geometry and dynamics of the cars suspension. They said their packages are made and tuned for the car which keeps the performance sound and true. Who knows their suspension better than GM? All of this was just solid selling points for me, so that was the advantage I saw.
I had Eibach on my fifth gen and had issues with the rear springs coming out of perch all the time. I complained and Eibach refunded me and didn’t even want the springs back.

I know many use other suspension parts but for the coin, look and handling I’m totally satisfied.

The advantage the GM kit (lowering + handling kit) has is that it's track proven. GM advertises a lap time reduction on their autocross track and also provided some data on their Milford Road Course.

See the info the Camaro team provided:

Does Koni or Bilstein make a stock replacement shock for these cars yet?

Until that happens, this kit seems like the only way to go to lower the car and improve the handling with matched shocks to the lower springs.
