Rear side speakers pics and side trim removal pics.

Thought I'd post some pics of my back seat area when I removed the rear trim and seats for some sound deadener. I have some pics of the rear side speakers. Trim was pretty easy to remove and the rear deck plastic came of simply after the sides were removed. 7 clips for side pieces and 2 screws on each side. They easily pop off when pulled. Screws are under the little air bag covers.

Thank you for the info and awesome pics! I may end up doing this myself as I have GTMAT sitting in the garage, I am waiting to buy the trunk carpet mat and slap on some gtmat on that and do under the rear seats! Where did you end up installing sound deadening material and which did you use?

I used noico. Had it in my 2010 camaro and it worked great. Low price it's only 50 mil but I double and triple most areas. It's butyl not asphalt based. I only took 1 pic while I was installing the mat when I was about half way done. I pretty much covered every bare area I could reach. More then what is seen in the pic. From start to finish took about 2 1/2 hours. Not bad at all. Just sucks because of how little room you have back there to work.

During your project did you see any room to remove the 6x9s and replace with 10" free-air speakers? I would like to address the sub-bass output and this is what I did in my former car to great effect.

I would say no from what I could see, but I'm no expert. The metal back there is super thin and flimsy as well. Would definitely need to build a custom bracket to hold them if you were to try, anything's possible.

Awesome, thank you for the info! Even a thin 1 layer is better than nothing!

Agreed, it's amazing how much better the sound is now. And is so much quieter. Gonna do the floor pan and roof next month..makes a giant difference just doing the back and trunk. Well worth it.

I'm going to be doing my car soon. Nice to see whats needed to do this. Questoin, how do you remove the headliner. I want to do mine because of all my bass. My roof flexes hard sometimes and i want clear big ass bass. How do I remove the headliner?

Thanks for posting this, this really helped me installing my Rockford Fosgate Punch 160a2 amp and my Fosgate 6x9's into my ride!!! This made a definite sound improvement to my NON-BOSE System. Also not pictured, but I did the same thing by adding ACCUMAT HYPERFLEX Damping Material too. This really helped cutting the road noise down. Will do the door very soon to improve the road noise.
