Battery Maintainer for winter.

Are you removing your batteries to put on a maintainer for winter? If not, are you leaving the trunk open for ventilation?

I hook mine up under the hood, not directly to battery

Yes, but the battery being charged is still in the trunk. The maintainer instructions are pretty clear about only charging in a ventilated space.

I looked in the trunk and the positive is buried behind the back trim. I saw the engine compartment location and I'm not crazy about leaving a Battery Tender hooked up there. I'm going to grab a quick connector from Ace Hardware and hook it directly to the battery. Then it will be like the C7 Corvette I had. GM provided the connection with the car.

Mine comes out, but I put my car in my storage unit for the winter which does not have electricity. So I take the battery out and put it in my basement on a tender.

The battery has a vent tube to the outside, if it's the original or a correct replacement.

Thanks guys! I won’t worry about the ventilation, since it is vented.

I learned two things today…battery needs to be vented and it already is from the factory. Good post.

The direct venting to the outside is the only way they were able to locate the battery in the trunk since there's no way to seal off the trunk from the passenger compartment completely (and it's not really a ventilated area itself).

I use this knife switch to isolate the battery. Ctek MXS 5.0 connected to the battery through the trunk (propped open with a towel over the latch). Much easier than pulling the battery.
