Ahh yes the inflated warranty claim scam...

$150 part and a few hours labor, and an extra $800 for poops and laughter.

Good grief, that tech, pending the shops labor rate, got +/-10 hours to install a fuel pump. Sheesh... Either the install is a total bear or Gunkk is spot on. Odd thing is, as someone who works at a dealership, normally the warranty companies are like insurance companies. They tell us what we are going to get paid and it usually is less than what one would deem appropriate. Surprising to hear such an outrageous price on multiple fronts.

Yeah I have no idea what the warranty company will pay them, but I doubt it is the full tariff. Either way, the warranty cost is already paid and I'll be out of pocket $100.00. Tech said he hasn't seen this on a 6th gen before. He did say that he sees a lot of radio/infotainment centers go out and that is much more expensive than a fuel pump.

Mine went at 20k. I had no symptoms of it, they found that to be a problem and replaced it.

The ONLY thing I noticed different was a nicer idle, and my idle was good to begin with. Maybe it is a thing that isn't being caught? Literally would have never guessed the car was compensating for fuel load, my buddy who works at a dealer just happened to scan and check the car.

Is the fuel pump in the gas tank, meaning the fuel keeps the pump "cool"?

Yes, the LPFP is in the gas tank. The HPFP is located under the intake manifold.

With that said it would be wise to not let run the gas run low on a regular basis to keep the fuel pump happy for years come.

I use to have an F-body and the fuel pumps did not like being run with low fuel.

That could be said with almost all fuel pumps, if that was the case, all cars would have consistent failures across the board.

It's actually a pretty big job. The exhaust and driveshaft have to come out to drop the tank. 10 hours, maybe not, but a good 5 hours.

I had a fuel sending unit fail. Replacing it was no fun-with a lift. Having an ARH exhaust already installed made it easier, but still. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=588457
