Fuel Stabilizer - Necessary?

Is fuel stabilizer really necessary? In my area they can use up to 10% ethanol. I put the car away a couple months ago and didn't think about it and am now a bit concerned. Thinking about running to gas station an filling tank and adding stabilizer.

Luckily I have a few options to buy ZERO ethanol fuel, but unfortunately only 91 octane. This is an "apples/oranges" comparison, but I have left that fuel for MONTHS in a few motorcycles and was always able to start them, 4-6 months later.

I have used STABIL a few times and they started the same.

I have had issues when I use ethanol added fuel. Coincidence? Or maybe the ethanol DOES go bad faster?

I'd check that the STABIL is fine with our cars....and adding a bottle can't hurt for long term storage.

Stored short term.... for 4-6 weeks...I'd simply try to get some non ethanol fuel.

I store mine for three months in the winter, so I use the stabilizer with 10% ethanol fuel.

I use non ethanol in all my small engine equipment, lawn mowers, etc. They all sit for three months or more, never had a problem. Try that with ethanol fuel with no stabilizer and good luck getting it started. I know that from experience.

Put it in before you fill up then drive home it will allow it to be in the fuel system instead of sitting on the top of the gas I have done it this way for 15 winters in a row first crank in the spring I drive away!
