Sorry, but i have to ask. Why go ported vs a larger diameter? Just asking cause i don't want to do like i did on my GenV by spending money on a ported TB only to swap it for a larger diameter a few years later. I know gains are had with the ported, but would like to know the comparison and reason why not just install a larger one?

Classic case of bigger is not always better. Velocity is just as if not more important than peak flow numbers.

Only real reason IMO to get an actual larger diameter TB is to prevent the TB from becoming the neckdown restriction for the intact tract.

At what desired HP would one need to start looking at a larger diameter.

I may be off, but I thought the codes in this particular situation were based on a running self-test, and if the right conditions aren't met the test doesn't complete. Meaning you wouldn't get a code.

Maybe I'm thinking of something else? Just thought I'd bring it up since a few had mentioned having it on for X amount of months. Though if I'm right, small trips to/from the store over X amount of months wouldn't necessarily be the same as if you drove across town; which after all this time could finally throw the code?
For the record, this is not my daily driver, or rather its not supposed to be, but i drive it 32miles one way to work almost everyday to work, so the miles have been racking up quite nicely since ive had the RF, TB VLC combo put on. Now with that being said my ppor truck probably has a dead battery for all the love Ive been giving the Z....lol

I can't imagine it being a big restriction below 800 rwhp. Only really necessary IMO if you get the blower ported to 102mm+ and a 4" CAI to prevent a bottleneck.

Sounds reasonable. I don't plan to exceed the 700rwhp range. Should be plenty for a reliable street car.

Thanks for the link....it really is a disappointment about the heads going backwards in cfm progress as shown on the link.

The main issue is the need to tune the car with a larger TB....no flying under the radar with a larger unit flowing a bunch more air. Most folks want to bolt it on and go....don't want to compromise the OEM warranty by installing an aftermarket tune etc.

Bottom line....if your heavily modding the car (and tuning anyway) a bigger TB is a good move assuming you have upgraded every other component in the pipeline to at least that diameter.

Hope this helps

Tony,

I'm very interested, I have a 17 ZL1 M6, right now bone stock.

Couple of questions:

Is this a direct bolt-on replacement?
I looked at your website, how to we order? What are the prices?
How long from order to ship?
Do you provide install instructions?

Tony will most likely chime in, but yes its a direct replacement bolt on. Email him is best he said. I sent an email and he was super busy but able to reach out within a day or so. I believe they're $375 shipped and he offers a money back guarantee if your not happy (seems like everyone is very impressed with his work the TB) Hope this helps.

I looked at your website, how to we order? What are the prices? Send him a PM with your name, address, phone number, email and request to be placed on the ported TB list for the LT4. $375.00 shipped.
How long from order to ship? I got on the list about a week ago and he said 4 weeks
Do you provide install instructions? Its 4 10mm bolts, 1 hose, and 1 electrical connection.
No instructions needed its very easy to see what needs to be removed.
