It takes some elbow grease, but doable. Not sure what to do with the stray connectors if you have heated/cooled seats, the BCL may throw a code for these. (I would probably take the seats apart and try to transfer the heating elements and the two cooling fans as a fun project.)

As always, the cloth seats are much more difficult to keep clean, but they are not going to feel that cold or hot in the winter/summer as opposed to our leather (actually vinyl) seats.

Are cloth seat covers an option for you?

Cheaper than whole seats.

I second the seat cover option. I'd even recommend "neoprene" seat covers. Most neoprene seat covers are actually a form-fitting nylon cloth with foam backing. It's not CR or wetsuit grade neoprene which feels a lot more rubbery. The non-CR stuff makes for a great "cloth" seat cover that fits well, is stain resistant, and doesn't look like it came out of a 1988 Buick Regal. You can also get CR-grade neoprene, which is an interesting seat medium, I guess. It's highly waterproof, but snuggling an actual wetsuit on a hot day isn't pleasant. The fake neoprene doesn't really have that problem.

Heated seats do work through nylon neoprene covers. Not sure about cooled seats or if the 2SS has them. I'm not sure that would work. Heated seats work on conduction. Cooled seats actually have airflow into the seat.

I went the other way with my 5th gen. It was a 1SS. I purchased some very low miles (17) factory leather seat covers from a 2SS on the camaro5 forum and swapped the cloth covers for the leather. You'll need some basic hand tools, sockets, ratchet, and screw drivers. In addition you will need a pair of hog ring pliers (was $7 at Harbor Freight at the time) and a GOOD pair of diagonal cutters to cut the existing hog rings...spend for some Channellock brand. You'll also need a box of new hog rings. Not sure where to get these as the seller provided them with the seat covers. It turned out brilliantly. They looked like they came from the factory (well they did, just not in my car). That said, I'm not sure why you'd go from leather to cloth. The factory leather will certainly last longer. Granted, the 6th gen seat covers are much firmer than the 5th seat covers, and certainly not as comfortable. I suspect that they will hold up better than the 5th leather seat covers over time.
