Question TPMS Issue

I recently installed a set of winter wheels and tires on my 2019 2SS, but my relearn tool was unsuccessful for programming the TPMS sensors installed on the winter setup.

The winter setup is used, but I know that the sensors are present. I bought them off my brother, who had them installed and functioning on his 2017 2SS.

I took the car to a nearby Bob Sumerel Tire & Service shop, but they were unsuccessful in syncing the TPMS sensors either. They claimed that the sensors are programmed for a 2017 and thus won't work for a 2019. They did offer to reprogram them by breaking the seal to access the TPMS sensors, which of course they would be happy to do at a cost of $100/tire.

I did a search through the forums, but didn't see any posts regarding the TPMS being year-specific (just frequency specific, which I don't believe is the issue here). Has anyone else heard of this, or does the tire shop not know what they're talking about?

Which relearn tool did you buy? I got a $9 tool off amazon that works fine.
This is it. It gets rebranded by several sellers:
https://www.amazon.com/VXDAS-EL-5044...s%2C169&sr=8-3
Says it works up to MY 2019.
Make sure you hold the antenna right next to the rubber close to the fill valve.

You need to find out what Hz the sensors are on in the wheels versus what your Camaro uses. GM has change the frequency on the system over the last couple of years.

Yep, that's the exact one that I purchased. I tried it in that position, but was not successful.

The frequency should be the same. I confirmed via search on the forum that GM switched to 433mhz in the 2016s. Tire Rack also confirmed that the same sensors are used on a 2017 SS and 2019 SS. So if they worked on my brother's 2017, they should be the exact same frequency.

But that doesn't solve the programming issue that the tire shop mentioned. I haven't been able to find anything confirming that sensors are programmed for a specific year.

This probably doesn't help your exact situation, but as another point of context/data I have 2 sets of TPMS on 2 sets of wheels and swap them back and forth without issue (after reprogramming using the tool linked previously). One set is the factory 2018 TPMS and the other set is from an OEM 2020 set of SS wheels. I would think if 2018 and 2020 are compatible so would be 2017 and 2019.

Here's an idea. Read the reviews first. Free shipping and free returns. if it ends up working, you decide if you want to keep it. But amazon is giving you over 60 days to play with it. special extended holiday return policy I guess.
