Samsung pushed out an update last year to the S6 and S7 that has killed or made wireless charging almost impossible. Samsung only wants you to use their wireless chargers, so they changed the trigger amperage to the point where the OEM GM wireless charging pad cant trigger the charging on the phone.

This was confirmed to me by Samsung Corp.

Basically:

If your phone is using more battery than it's charging, usually weakly from the USB, you'll lose power.

I always use a fast 12V charger. No issues.

Yes, mine charges and connects with the Apple Car play. I'd definitely try using the "OEM" cable for your phone.

It was definitely the cable. I bought a new cable yesterday, nothing special, and the phone charges as it supposed to with the USB ports.

Because the USB ports are difficult to get to in the Camaro now I am wondering if I put a USB 4 port adapter in there if the USB port would put out enough power to charge more than one phone? When someone else is in the car they can charge their phone also.
(My other port has a flash drive in it)

I was using a cheaper cable before, and it would only keep up with the phone's battery use. It would come up as "charging via USB".

I wound up getting an additional Dash cable (proprietary to OnePlus) and now it comes up as "charging via AC".

Not sure if that's your case or not, but it certainly appears it's capable of charging fairly quickly.
Yeah try different cables first OR just use that nice little warranty your car has.

I use THE BEST cable which is made by Anker...it fully charges for my iPhone 6S.

Reason why I mention your warranty is because a large amount of us who got the car at the start, had broken USB outlets. Had to wait a while before GM could re-engineer the part and get it out to the dealers.

Unhappy No usb power, no apple car play!!!

Hey I was wondering what this problem can be. I’ve tried disconnecting the battery for an hour, restarting the car and changed usb wires but still I have no usb power in my center console. Does anyone know what to do?

You can get a two port 2.4 amp charger to put in the power port on top of the console and get fast charging. No connection to the infotainment system, though. You have to use Bluetooth. I use this one.
