We drove a loaded SS and then a new base Stingray with just NPP and 8-speed auto. Price difference after all respective discounts was $7k more for the Stingray.

Honestly a base Stingray isn't missing much for a daily driver. Would like heated/vented seats, memory seats, and home link garage door, but again, not that big of a deal. So, we didn't feel like we were missing much and the Stingray does drive and look nice.

We chose the loaded SS because of the back seat and the fact it was a bit more practical overall. The new SS is that good. We wouldn't have hesitated taking the Stingray if we were comparing to a '15 Camaro.

In my eyes, a 2SS is basically a C7 with back seats. Similar performance, similar styling levels (not that they look like each other, but both look great), etc.

Seeing as I have 2 kids that I pick up from school every day, it'd be tough to pick one up, drive him home, then back to school to get my daughter, then back home again. hahaha

Something I forget to add that other's have mentioned. Wifey and I are empty-nesters, as such we don't need a back seat. If we'd had kids at home, we'd have probably gotten the gen 6 and been just as happy. We also have other cars (She's got a 2 dr convertible 'fun car', and I have an all wheel drive sedan, and a 4wd Tundra) so that was also a factor in getting a "less convenient" car like the C7.

Being a big guy, I couldn't see getting in/out of the C7 as being comfortable plus for some reason, maybe it is just me, but I would feel more anal about the C7 and would be looking for every little smudge or scratch, lol.

I got the C7. Kids are gone and just love the looks of the Vette. There was a $12000 difference in price, but with GM points and incentives, it was less then $10000

I'm 5'10" 275lbs, I'm a 'big' (read: wide) guy, with a bad back. Getting in and out isn't too much of a contortion act. You do really "fall" into them with it being so low.

I don't worry too much about being anal about the car. I bought it to drive. It's going to get dinged (already happened, car on highway kicked up something that bounced off one of my "fangs" in the front, thank God for xpel) and it's going to be dirty. I'll wash it on Sat / Sun mornings, and drive it the rest of the time.

Be fair on your price comparisons. A 2SS is the rough equivalent of the 2LT Corvette, not the 1LT.

1SS = 37295
1LT = 56395
Diff = 19100

2SS = 42295
2LT = 60850
Diff = 18555

But, to be fair, there's a lot more dealer margin in the C7 so buying both at invoice closes the gap.

My main concern with getting in and out is it being so low to the ground and having bad knees. One look into that cockpit and I knew it wasn't meant for me

Yeah, I have a semi-bum knee, and I will say. Getting in and out isn't easy on it some days. Right now, it's worth it for me

Like others have said on here price was the main factor. I still prefer how the C7 looks but to build one new the way I'd want it would be $15K more. I could probably swing it, but I try to be smart with my money and the $250 or so I'd save a month is better spent on other things.

I don't have kids so my back seat won't be used either way.

All very helpful guys; thanks. I'm 6'3", no kids at home, 62 years old, and have a wife who doesn't like getting in/out of my C7. So you got all the issues. Thanks again for the sounding board.

Now part B: Anyone who bought the V6 regret not getting the SS?

Thanks.
Price was the determining factor for me.
I'm going to pay my 2SS down and switch to a vette. I'll probably wait fir the C8.

I was looking for a daily driver, have no kids and cost wasn't the overriding factor. I looked at the C7 numerous and tried to love it but could not. I'm 6'-4" so it felt tight plus I hated having to roll out using my left arm. The new SS feels great and has all the performance and features I wanted.
