I received lifetime oil changes as part of my deal

And there are a good amt of us that want no part of that deal. The dealer can keep his free services, if i can keep my car out of the dealer stall, i will. Ive seen all my career in the biz, how even good, solid techs can accidentally screw up a dealer visit.

Not preaching everyone should do this, just illuminating another point of view.

I agree...You'll get the cheap oil, and a minimum wage tech doing it. "Free" comes with a cost...

69 cars, many new, over 50 years, and I can count the times I've utilized a dealer service dept. on less than 10 fingers, Warranty stuff included..I plan to keep it that way.

Use the four dealer included oil changes to clean out break-in contaminants. I got mine changed at 1000/3000/6000/9000 and now will DIY with M1 according to the OLM. If you have any doubts, send in a couple of consecutive samples for lab analysis and prove to yourself how much life is left in the oil.

4 free oil changes? Is that a GM thing? I thought the 24month maintainence warranty was changed for 2016?

It was, for 2016 it's 2 free services which include oil change and tire rotation, which is a moot point for staggered setups.

So could we do 2 oil changes? Or it has to 2 services at once??

It's really just 2 oil changes and it's only generic Dexos semi-syn. Mobil 1 is an up charge. Some dealers will change as much a $65 to upgrade to Mobil 1. I can do a complete 10qt change with filter in my driveway for $57 using any number of premium oils. I choose Pennzoil pure platinum plus.

Probably at least another year away from even getting a Camaro but I'll first change oil somewhere between 500-1500 miles of easy driving. After than it'll probably get loaded up with Amsoil and changed out once a year, I don't drive that much and probably would see at most 5-7K miles a year.

If you're not used to doing mechanical work, I wouldn't start now. While an oil and filter change is not difficult per se, you need the proper tools and know how to make sure you don't create an expensive fubar. There are many oil change deals out there and I wouldn't hesitate to take advantage. Or if you love your dealer ask them to price match one of these:

$20 for synthetic blend? Not bad price

Just understand that's a 5qt change and unless they changed the sump on the 16s, the V8s hold 8 qts so expect a surcharge for the additional oil.

2016:
V8s hold 10
V6 holds 5.5

Thanks. My 2014 LS3 holds 8. Didn't know they enlarged the sump and cut in half the number of included oil changes.
