Just put the original back in with only a few clips just to hold it in place while I get the zl1 ones painted. It was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy easier than taking them off lol now off to the dealer to see how much they wanna charge me

So I went to a couple of shops and got some estimates. I have two options.. I can do the two tone(red and black) or I can do all red and then wrap the bottom half in gloss black vinyl..
Maaco: two tone paint - $596.63 All red - forgot to ask but it would be probably in the $400s Random place called ricks auto body shop: Two tone- $680.00 All red - $575.00 The dude seemed real sketchy and didn't even come out to look at the rockers. Place called carsmetics : Two tone: $639.86 All red : $505.04 This one's my favorite place, even gave me a little tour on the place I still have a few more shops to check out but I'm leaning towards doing all red then wrapping the bottom part gloss black.

I want to do this too!
I did the same thing on my 2013 SS. I bought a set of 5th gen ZL1 rockers already painted from Gary's Custom on camaro5 forum and installed them myself. But I traded the 2013 for a 2016 SS last year. I just sent Gary a PM to see if he is planning on offering the same service to supply painted 6th gen ZL1 rockers. |

Maaco just quoted me at $326 to do all red... does anybody have experience with them and color matching? I like the price but I'm still a little iffy on them

Maaco maybe the last resort i would say. Had a few cars done back in the day by them and they left unsanded marks under the paint and i was able to pull strips of new paint off the car and my original paint was under it shinning through. Sometimes you get what you pay for, for real...

Jdelgado92-
Just a heads up, REALLY am not trying to rain on your parade here but I feel like I should say something in case you didn't already notice. They are indeed a bolt on replacement, but on the front portion where the skirt would clip in/tuck under the factory front fenders, you will be left with about a 0.5" opening. Reason: ZL1 front fenders are wider, which these skirts are made for. If you were already aware of this, great. If not, I highly suggest making your adjustments or modifying(basically filling the opening or covering it somehow) before having them painted. Nothing too major. You can see the slight gap I'm referring to here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BRmQ_r4AVrL/ |
