2022 2SS 1LE impressions after 10 days of ownership

Hi all,

I was on the fence between waiting to order a 23 Camaro, or grab up a 22 from existing inventory. After seeing there didn't appear to be any notable changes, and the supply shortages causing more constraints and features delayed I decided to jump on a 22 I found a semi local car that had everything I wanted except the PDR. While the PDR was a would be nice option it wasn't a deal breaker to not have it.

So about ten days ago I brought home a 22 2SS 1LE in rapid blue. Rapid Blue wasn't a first choice of mine, but it's really grown on me in no time. I've test driven a few 6th gen Camaros over the years but this is the first I've purchased, and so far I'm extremely happy with it.

Right away I was a little surprised at actually how comfortable it was, with the seats being great on long drives. The criticism over visibility seems a bit overblown to me. Granted I've got the blind spot warning but even so I really don't have any issues with visibility. I could see where the ZL1 1LE wing could be an issue, but the normal SS 1LE spoiler is fine. With the side mirrors adjusted properly, I'm perfectly comfortable with what I can see.

For the first 700ish miles I behaved myself, and didn't rev it over 4K. At the 700 mark I took it for it's first oil change, and afterwards got into it a bit more aggressively. The power does not disappoint. It does seem a little more high RPM peaky then I remember from the Camaro's I'd test driven but I probably didn't step on them very hard either. All in all it's a terrifically fun car all around. I intend to do some mild tracking with it down the road, but for now it's turned out to be exactly what I wanted.

Congratulations! Love Rapid Blue on the 1LE.

And the seats are damn good. One of the biggest surprises for me.

Congrats on the car. I noticed the same thing on the outward visibility. Sure it's a little closed in, but you always have the accelerator pedal to squirt you ahead of anything that may be in your blind spot. For some reason people like to sit in other peoples' blind spots for no apparent reason.

And, if you should ever get bored with the color (it's definitely a striking color, but not exactly my cup of tea) I know of someone that might be interested in taking it off your hands...

You are wise to have taken the one in stock as newer ones have had certain options deleted due to supply shortage.

lol, I'm trying to help you. He said it wasn't his first color choice.

Maybe convince him that it's not the color for him, and score yourself a slightly used Camaro.

Any plans on the interior? I saw some guy somewhere on here that added a few carbon fiber pieces, nothing too gaudy but just some tasteful clips here and there.

Looks good-
I had to make that same jump. Was waiting and waiting for my 2 orders at two diff dealerships to get picked up- 5 months later I found one a couple of state away and contacted them and made a deal. Well, if you can call MSRP minus $750 a deal. But, I have my rapid blue 2ss! Welcome to the club!

I don't have a lot in mind for the interior at this point. Maybe the Alcantara knee pads down the road. I'm not really a fan of the carbon fiber look ( take it easy on me) so most of it will stay stock.

The next step will be getting PPF installed.

Great looking car, congrats!

Rapid Blue is really growing on me. I didn't care for it when I first saw the pictures, but the more I've seen of it, the more I've come to really like it. Since I anticipate having to order a 2023 model (since I don't see my 2022 order being accepted by GM within the next few days), I've been thinking about switching colors to either Rapid Blue or Vivid Orange, which was my original first choice in colors.
