Its an expensive spring

Finally the weather has moderated to point where I had to get the camaro out. Holy crap premium gas was $4.79 a gallon. I think it was almost that high back a few years ago too. Freakin crazy.

I hear Chevy has quite a few Chevy sonic or spark whatever one they are discontinuing.. they get near 40MPG.

Maybe they will bring them back.. with hot hatch option.

Ya, just wait... It's not even summer. If you believe what you read on the old inter-web, gas is going to be pretty high this summer.

Going to have to trade in the Camaro for the 2025 Camaro e28 or the IROC-e......

Just kidding, we are paying about $3.99 here in Kentucky for 93 octane, sucks. Stupid Russia....

I had a 2020 Chevy Spark a couple years ago, 5-speed manual, crank windows. It was a horrible driving car, then I got sideswiped by another car and sold the thing. Thought I was going to die in a 2,000 pound car.

Gas prices were on the rise from March 2021, not sure Russia is the appropriate place to blame...

Yeah I think Russia only accounts for like 7% of our fuel so it's not just them. Buuuut seriously **** Russia for the obvious other things.

Even if we don’t buy much oil from Russia, there is still less oil available on the international market in total, driving the price up for everyone.

Add in people going back to work over the past year after working from home, not a good recipe for affordable fuel.

If fuel prices get too high, the politicians just release more of the strategic reserve, unless there are unprecedented mitigating circumstances. they want to get re-elected. Somewhere in the Declaration the fine print says Americans have the God-given right to load up the Winnebago and tour the country, regardless of... well, everything!

Current snapshot is not loading, but reserve is over a 2-year supply:

Yeah I gassed up the Z the first time after picking it up, went for a drive, huge giddy smiles wagging the tail, got home and sighed contentedly... looked down at the fuel gauge and went... "uh oh."

IF the SPR is filled to capacity (727 MBBLs) it would last less than 40 days.

Also, they can draw a max of 4.4MBBls and our country currently uses 18.19MBBLs/day. A war would dramatically increase that amount.

This doesn't include any production from domestic oil fields. Also, keep in mind that domestic oil has to be blended with foreign oil at present because of the way US refineries are set up.

I'm perfectly ok with gas prices going up to $10 a gallon. This means less of you mooks will be on the road when I decide to take the car out.
