Crazy how the market has changed. I sold my 2016 2SS A8 with 5,700 miles in 2017 and the going trade-in value at the time was $32k. To think that car would be worth the same or more today is just crazy.

That said, I bought a Tesla Model 3 for $40k in 2019 and after the price increases announced today the same car is $47k new today. I knew inflation was coming after the 2 year stint of the government printing money but it is still shocking to see it take place.

If you can hold out I would. With gas prices going up demand for these cars is going to go down so should the price.

Well, the dealership tried to run car, against what I told them. Now I get a brand new motor because the dealer locked this one up. So a few more weeks without the car. But will have brand new crate motor... and by extension a new oil pump.

Did the dealership cover this even with the mods (long tubes, etc.)?

What's crazy is at least around here there are like zero used cars available at reasonable prices (looking for my daughter who's just starting out), zero performance cars at all that aren't marked up an insane amount, and there's like 350 used Teslas on the market in the same radius, but supposedly we are supposed to believe Teslas are all ANYONE wants now?

EDIT: To stay topical, would anyone recommend just snagging a Katech pump "to have on the shelf"? I have a 2022 ZLE inbound and figured it might not hurt to have one for the future (I intend to keep the car) in case they stop making them or something.

I would and I did… It’s crazy to think that I have a $500 part sitting on the shelf. But, nothing like this part gets cheaper

Yeah probably just going to grab one.

Still hard to predict but I think the coming years of absolutely soulless, un-engaging EV's are going to make people yearn for the last loud, manual, squirrely cars of this era...I don't have any intentions of selling this one (like I foolishly did with my 2019), but I don't want to be stuck not being able to fix it properly in the future.

Doesn't seem to be as common with the dry sump pump in the C7Z but has been reported https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-went-out.html

Makes sense if it's the same low grade steel gear

I got a Katech pump, and had it installed last fall.

Add another 2018 to the list, build time June 2017 if I remember right. Was running fine until I stopped at a red light, low oil pressure shut off engine dinging at me like crazy. Had to get off the main road, I couldn't shut it off where it was and noticed under normal throttle oil pressure returned, engine sounded fine so I drove it the minimal distance (couple minutes) home.

Had it towed in to the dealer today and after checking everything resetting codes and taking it for a test drive it did it again. This time they could diagnose the oil pump as the problem so a new one is on order to be installed tomorrow. Not even 30,000KM (~19000 miles) yet, first time I can really get on it now that the snow is gone and poof, toast .
