I know this is the dry sump video but they show the update

I get what your saying but if that was the case I think we'd see more 2019 and up having the same issues. The bad part about this whole thing is all we can do is hypothesize and only GM really knows. Would be nice if they'd come out and make some sort of statement but like most big businesses all they care about is the final sale. It reminds me a lot of the Ls7 head ordeal back on the Corvette.

GM treats Camaro and Corvette similar to the cheapest econobox Spark.

It’s just a car and bring it in if it breaks, no focus on quality.

GM isn't exactly Honda or Lexus but that's a little harsh. BMWs and Audis have their issues too so brand hugging isn't the answer

With that said of all the things in the world to not skimp on it's an oil pump in a 650 hp engine!

Is yours one of the old, embossed NJ plates by any chance? They looked much better than what came after them, I kept my last one from 2013 or 2014 as a souvenir

yeah, its an oldie, been on my last 3 or 4 cars. Occasionally cone collisions require embossing repair.

Mine failed in middle of summer, after 30+ minute highway drive - just as I was getting to my destination. Pulled in, DIC message oil pressure warning, engine off as soon as it flashed - towed to dealer.. and it sat there for next 40 days for diag, parts, rebuild.

If GM didn't want you to drive it in winter, it should have skipped on heated seats and heated steering wheel. No - i'm not saving it for the next guy. Going to enjoy every minute of it.. mission accomplished so far.

I'd have to agree with Dave. Between the oil pump, the afm liters, and the A8 shudder Gm quality has tanked. I like my Camaro and plan to keep it since everything is going electric but this will be my first and last Gm car.

Heh, knew it. I see you have a sto'n'sho, too... don't you occasionally forget the front plate in the trunk ?. These plates looked way better, definitely worth repairing and keeping in good shape.

You got as lucky as can be with how the oil pump gave up the ghost, it didn't get you into a wreck and you'd already pulled off the highway, too. It must have been a very classy pump.

Very well said. I enjoy the hell out of mine! Cars like that are meant to be driven, not to be kept in the garage.

I agree and mine gets driven every week I’m just lucky enough to have another car that’s just as fun to drive that is better suited for fair weather days. I wouldn’t own a car I can’t drive.

"Quality has tanked" is an overgeneralization - compared to what? Ever been in a C6 vette?

AFM and A8 aren't ZL1 issues. Not worried about the pump yet because I have a 6 year certified warranty. There aren't many options in this price range in terms of good handling sports cars over 500 rwhp. Not really interested in a $100k M4 competition that sounds like an angry appliance. LC500 is nice but not very fast

Yup. Every car, motorcycle, boat, RV, etc, has issues. That's what happens when you buy products made by humans.

Fortunately, we now have forums where early adopters can learn about the vehicles they buy from the experiences of other owners, and prospective buyers can find out the overall history of products, to see if they want to jump into ownership.

No one really knows for sure but the majority of the failures look to be early to late 2017 build dates. The date is in your drivers door jam. There are a few failures scattered in early 2018 builds but not very many. Overall looks to still be a low number but again no one really knows for sure.
